  • ROBERT D. IHNEN, 89, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Robert D. Ihnen, 89, North Manchester, IN died at 6:32 a.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Sturgill Care- HPH Hospice Center, Brooksville, Florida. He was born July 22, 1923 in Wabash County, IN to Herman T. & Velma Marie (Bishop) Ihnen.  He graduated from Laketon (IN) High School in 1941.  On September 19, 1941 he married Marjorie M. Burns. She died May 5, 2001. He was a lifetime farmer and drove school bus for 27 years for Laketon & Manchester Community Schools.  Bob was a US Army/Air Corp veteran, a member of South Pleasant United Methodist Church, North Manchester, IN and a 63 year member of American Legion Post #402, Laketon, IN. He is survived by one son, Ronald (Donna) Ihnen, North Manchester, IN; one daughter, Mrs. Ted (Linda) McCune, North Manchester, IN; one sister, Betty Davis, Wabash, IN; five grandchildren, five step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, sixteen step great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and four step great great grandchildren.  One brother and one sister are deceased.  Family & friends may call Friday, November 23, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services will be Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN. Pastor Ed French & Pastor Russ Reahard will officiate.   • EARL W. "Wild Bill" IHOLTZ, 81, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Earl W. "Wild Bill"  Iholtz, 81, North Manchester, IN died at 1:48 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Ft. Wayne, IN.  He was born at rural North Manchester, IN on February 13, 1930 to Hickman William & Nancy (Haley) Iholtz.  On December 31, 1953 he married Peggy L. Parker.  She survives.  Also surviving are a son, Michael William (Susan) Iholtz, South Whitley, IN.  Two daughters, Gloria Jean (Gene) Gottschalk, South Whitley, IN and Barbara Ann (Frank) Edwards, Wabash, IN.  Three sisters, Helen Jones, Zanesville, IN; Peggy (Wayne) Turner and Mae Howard, both of Ft. Wayne, IN.   Five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  One grandchild and two brothers are deceased.  Bill attended Sidney High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1949-1953.  He was the owner & operator of Bill's Body Shop & Towing Service since 1961 and retired in 2009.  He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester where he served as a deacon for several years, and the River City Choir at South Whitley.  Services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut Street, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 4 - 8 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.  Pastor J.P.   • JEAN P. IRELAND, 86, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Jean P. Ireland, 86, North Manchester, IN died at 6:49 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at his residence.  He was born June 3, 1924 at Laketon, Indiana to Asa & Cassie (Miller) Ireland.  On May 11, 1969 he married Marie R. Metzger.  She died May 16, 2005.  Surviving are four sons, Michael (Nancy) Ireland, Arvada, CO; W. Patrick (Carol) Ireland, Blue Ridge, VA; Kelly Ireland, Bloomington, IN; Mitchell Ireland, Atlanta, GA.  A daughter, Kathleen "Cindy" Seward, North Manchester, IN.  Twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.  One brother, two sisters and one grandchild are deceased.  Jean graduated from Laketon High School in 1942 and served with the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Cabot.  A retired farmer he purchased from his father the land on the north side of Long Lake in Wabash County which he developed into what is now known as Ireland Drive.  He was a former member of the American Legion Post # 402 at Laketon, IN and was a member of American Legion Post # 286, North Manchester, IN.  He and Marie spent 22 winters in Mission, Texas where he was a member of a men's choir that entertained at parks and retirement communities in that area.  Services will be held Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary.  Pastor J.P.     Esther Berniece Ireland, 84, North Manchester, IN died at 11:51 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.  She was born December 23, 1925 in Wabash County, Indiana to Raymond & Docha M. (Sippy) Shewman.  On February 14, 1952 she married Marion "Bud"Ireland.  He died March 11, 2010.  Surviving are two sons, Gordon Ireland, North Manchester, IN and Marion "Buddy" Ireland III, Wabash, IN.  Five daughters, Margaret Cartwright and Ruth DeTurk, both of North Manchester, IN; Mary Dryden and Melinda Johnson, both of Bonita Springs, FL; Maria Ireland, Ft. Wayne, IN.  Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, twenty four greatgrandchildren and three great-greatgranchildren.  One son, Three brothers and three sisters are deceased.  Esther was a member of the Liberty Mills United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary Post # 402, Laketon, IN; a 1944 graduate of Laketon High School and was employed with the former Bryan Manufacturing and Controls Co., both at North Manchester; Chamberlain Manufacturing at South Whitley, IN and General Tire and Wabash, IN. A homemaker and farmer's wife, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Most recently, she and Bud delivered newspapers to area residence for several years.  Services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 12 pm - 2 pm.  Pastor Greg Bradford will officiate and burial will follow in Laketon Cemetery, Laketon, IN.  To send a private condolence to the family, use the condolence link on the HOMEPAGE.

  • LAVETA M. IMMEL, 91, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    LaVeta M. Immel, 91, North Manchester, IN died at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN.  She was born at New Paris, Indiana on February 5, 1919 to Everett E. & Mayme (Smoker) Miller.  On December 14, 1940 she married Woodrow A. Immel.  He died November 21, 2003.  Surviving are two sons, Charles A. (Nancy) Immel, New Paris, IN and Keith (Linda) Immel, North Manchester, IN.  One daughter, Carolyn (Charles) Bame, Flagstaff, AZ.  One brother, Rex W. Miller, New Paris, IN  Five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Her parents and one sister, Jeanette (DeBoer-Hysell) Oakes are deceased.  Mrs. Immel was a pastor's wife, serving with her husband for more than 40 years in the ministry at Brethren Churches in North Manchester, IN ; Milford, IN and New Paris, IN.  She was a musician who used her talents in service to the Lord as a pianist, organist, and choir director.  She assisted her husband in the ministry as church secretary, and was employed for 30 years at the North Manchester News-Journal as a typesetter.  She graduated from New Paris High School in 1937, during which time she was national champion on the marimba.  She also attended Goshen College.  She was a member of the First Brethren Church, North Manchester, IN, Women's Missionary Society and was past vice-president of the National Women's Missionary Society.  She was a former member and accompanist for the Wabash County Choral Club.  Services will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. from First Brethren Church, 407 N. Sycamore St., North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call on Friday, April 2 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the church, and one hour prior to services on Saturday.  Committal services and burial will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 12:30 p.m. in New Paris Cemetery, New Paris, IN.  Pastor Kurt Stout will officiate.  For those who wish to honor the memory of LaVeta M.     Marion Ireland Jr., 85, North Manchester, IN died at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN.  He was born at Wabash County, IN on April 6, 1924 to Marion & Bernice B. (Sewell) Ireland.  On February 14, 1952 he married Esther B. Shewman.  She survives.  Also surviving are two sons, Gordon Ireland, North Manchester, IN and Marion "Buddy" Ireland III, Wabash, IN.  Five daughters, Margaret Cartwright and Ruth DeTurk, both of North Manchester, IN; Mary Dryden and Melinda Johnson, both of Bonita Springs, FL; Maria Ireland, Fort Wayne, IN.  Elevan grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.  One son and five sisters are deceased.  A retired farmer he also drove truck for Ringel Express and North Express.  Bud was a 1942 graduate of Laketon High School and attended Purdue University.  He was a charter member of the American Legion Post # 402, Laketon, IN where he has been a member over 60 years.  Services will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.  Friends and family may call on Tuesday from 12  - 2 p.m. at the mortuary.  Burial will follow at Laketon Cemetery, Laketon, IN. To send private condolences to the family, please use the CONDOLENCE LINK on the HOME PAGE.
