  • FRANK E. DRUDGE, 89, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Frank E. Drudge, 89, formerly of Silver Lake, IN died at 9:20 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN. He was born May 8, 1923 in Elkhart, IN to Ray & Mary Edith (Ulrey) Drudge.  He was raised by his uncle & aunt, John & Carrie (Drudge) Ayers.  Frank graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1941. On September 27, 1942 he married Helen Sittler. Frank  was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII and received the Bronze Star. He began working for his uncle at the John Ayers Market and later assumed ownership and established Drudge's Market in downtown Silver Lake. Later, he was a rural mail carrier for the Silver Lake Post Office for 30 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, North Manchester, IN, Warsaw Masonic Lodge #73, Warsaw, IN and the American Legion. He served his community as a longtime board member of the Lakeview Cemetery Association, Silver Lake, IN.  He is survived by his wife, Helen Drudge, North Manchester, IN; one son, Michael V. (Carole Grinstead) Drudge, Sylviana, OH; two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ellen) Drudge and Derek (Becky) Drudge, both of San Francisco, CA; and two step grandchildren, Nick Grinstead, Beirut, Lebanon & Lindsay Grinstead, Chicago, IL. Four brothers and three sisters are deceased.  Services will be May 10, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Peabody Chapel, 400 W. Seventh Street, North Manchester, IN.  Family and friends may call two hours prior to services.  Pastor Sue Babovec & Rev.   • IRENE L. DENEVE, 99, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Irene L. Deneve, 99, North Manchester, IN and formerly of Sidney, IN died at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013 in Timbercrest Healthcare Center.  She was born at Edgerton, Ohio on May 11, 1913 to Lewis H. & Hattie (Miller) Klinker.  On February 15, 1936 she married Frank E. Deneve.  He died April 13, 2002.  She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. Irene was the oldest member and longest living member of North Manchester Missionary Church.  Surviving are two sons, Richard (Dorene) Deneve, North Manchester, IN and John (Linda) Deneve, Claypool, IN.  Two daughters, Dolores Sturdevant, Dunnellon, FL and Mrs. Roger (Mary) Baker, South Whitley, IN.  11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.  One sister, Helen Marquart, Ft. Wayne, IN.  Five brothers and four sisters are deceased.  Services will be held Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in North Manchester Missionary Church, 806 E State Road 114, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call on Wednesday, March 13 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.  Pastor Dan Binkley will officiate and burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley Street, North Manchester, IN.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Irene Deneve, memorial contributions may be made to Missionary Church Repair Fund, 806 E.   • CORA LEE DINGESS, 85, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Cora Lee Dingess, 85, North Manchester, IN died at 3:41 a.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 in Parkview Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN.  She was born at Mudfork, WV on January 21, 1926 to Edward & Christean (Tomblin) Dalton.  On April 3, 1942 she married Ray Dingess.  He died September 15, 1995.  Surviving are three sons, Wallace Dingess, Servia, IN; Jackie (Tana) Dingess and Oscar (Kathy) Dingess, both of North Manchester, IN.  Seven daughters, Christean Calloway, North Manchester, IN; Madeline Shanklin, Wabash, IN; Delores Horne, Laketon, IN; Virgie (Jake) Shepherd, Servia, IN; Carolyn (Randy) France, North Manchester, IN; Mildred (Randy) Eckman, Wabash, IN; Pamela (Timmy) Craft, Huntington, IN.  38 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  Two sons, Bobbie G. Dingess, Allen Dingess, 6 brothers and 2 sisters are deceased.  Before moving to North Manchester, she was a housekeeper in the Logan, WV area.  She retired from United Technologies, North Manchester after 20 years service.  Cora Lee enjoyed listening to bluegrass and country music, watching old western movies and being with her family.  She believed in the Church of God.  She was much loved and will be sadly missed.  Services will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call on Wednesday, December 7, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at McKee's.  Pastor Tim Prater will officiate and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, IN.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Cora Lee Dingess, memorial contributions may be made to the family, c/o McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN 46962.  To send a private condolence to the Dingess family, use the condolence link on the Homepage.

  • MATTHEW G. DEETER, 55, HOUSTON, TX

     

    Matthew G. Deeter, 55, Houston, Texas died May 6, 2011.  He was born at Wabash County, Indiana on November 30, 1955 to George & Patricia (Schroll) Deeter.  They survive at Georgetown, Texas.  Also surviving is a sister, Jan Deeter.  Matthew was the owner and operator of a machine tool business after 30 years of experience in the industry.  Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Pastor J.P.   • MARJORIE M. DILLING, 80, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Marjorie M. Dilling, 80, North Manchester, IN died at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN. She was born September 27, 1930 in Kosciusko County, IN to Lee R. & Jennie C. (Royer) Smith.  On May 27, 1952 she married Kenneth Dilling.  Marjorie graduated from Chester Township High School in 1948 and Manchester College in 1952 with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education.  While at Manchester College she met and married Kenneth Dilling.  She and Ken lived in Ft. Wayne, where she nurtured four children, completed her Master’s Degree in Education, and taught in the public schools. In 1986 she and Ken relocated to Carmel IN. Marjorie and Ken were active members of the Church of the Brethren, first in Ft. Wayne for 30 years, then in Indianapolis for 20 years.  After moving to the Indianapolis area, Marjorie became active in Church Women United, culminating with being elected statewide president.   She was Docent at Indianapolis Children’s Museum for 10 years.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren.  In retirement, she and Ken enjoyed spending time at their home on Chapman Lake, sharing it with family and friends.  Her husband passed away in 2005 and Marjorie moved to Timbercrest Senior Living Community in North Manchester, where she found new ministries. She is survived by one son, Michael G. (Ruth) Dilling, Warsaw, IN; three daughters, Yvonne K. Dilling, Warsaw, IN, Marti J. (Randall) Roberts, Greenwood, IN and LaRita K. Dilling, Fort Wayne, IN; one brother, Dr. Lee Smith Jr., North Manchester, IN; three sisters, her twin sister, Martha Colace, North Manchester, IN, Ruth N. Kurtz, North Manchester, IN and Frances L. Anderson, Elkhart, IN; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.  Friends and family may call Friday, April 29, 2011 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, IN.   • RANDY K. DAY, 58, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Randy K. Day, 58, North Manchester, IN died at 1:31 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2011 in Huntington County, IN.  He was born February 20, 1953 in Wabash County, IN to Gene & Barbara (Meyer) Day.  On December 1, 1979 he married Garnet L. Wilson.  She survives.  Also surviving are a son, Joshua Day, Tennessee; three daughters, Melony Andritsch, South Bend, IN; Chesney (Ryan) France, Roann, IN; Bree (Chuck) Cannon, Ft. Wayne, IN.  Ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  Two brothers, Rodney Day, North Manchester, IN and Rick Day, Peru, IN.  One daughter is deceased.  Randy was a former manager at Hi-Grade Egg at North Manchester and a self employed sheep sheerer.  He was a Manchester High School graduate, a member of the American Legion Post # 402, Laketon, IN and a US Marine veteran serving during Vietnam.  He is survived by numerous foster children and was a foster parent for over 30 years.  He was a wonderful foster parent at White's Residential & Family Services, Wabash, IN.  Services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Christian Heritage Church, 7667 S. River Road, Wabash, IN.  Friends and family may call at the church on Tuesday, March 8 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.   Pastor Tim Prater will officiate and burial with military rites will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.   Arrangements are being handled at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN.   • MARJORIE M. DEARDORFF, 94, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Marjorie M. Deardorff, 94, North Manchester, IN and formerly of New Castle, IN died at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center.  She was born at New Castle, IN on June 17, 1916 to E.C. & Mabel (Stauble) Teeter.  On December 14, 1936 she married Rev. Lewis Deardorff.  He died June 10, 1988.  Surviving are two sons, Donald (Pat) Deardorff, Camby, CA and Dana (Barbara) Deardorff, Tigard, OR.  Two daughters, Deanna (Andy) Offringa, Jenison, MI and Deloris Deardorff, Warsaw, IN.  Nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  She was a member of the Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake, IN.   Services will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, IN.  The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 p.m. at the Timbercrest Chapel.  Chaplain Andrew Sampson will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.  Arrangements are being handled by McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Marjorie M.   • JESSE DAVIS JR., 87, LIBERTY MILLS, IN

     

    Jesse "Jess" Davis Jr., 87, Liberty Mills, IN died at 5:11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN.  He was born at Riceville, KY on August 26, 1922 to Jesse & Priscilla (Blair) Davis Sr.  On March 16, 1944 he married Bernice V. Jennings.  She died June 12, 2008.  A retired brick mason, Jess enjoyed gardening and hunting.  He was a US Army veteran of World War II and member of the American Legion Post # 286, North Manchester and the First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, Claypool, IN.  Surviving are two sons, Harold Davis, Liberty Mills, IN and Kenneth Davis, Lynden, WA.  Three daughters, Linda (Carl) Garringer, New Haven, IN;  Retta (Jay) Melcher, Ft.     Gary L. Downs, 57, North Manchester, IN died at 4:33 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2010 in Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN.  He was born October 7, 1952 at Elwood, IN to Dale & Mary Lou (Crouch) Downs.  They are deceased.  On August 20, 1999 he married Judy M. Conover.  She survives.  Also surviving are a step-son, Jeremy L. Conover, North Manchester, IN; half sister, Ruth Ann Rice, Noblesville, IN and his best friend, Charles D. "Chopper" Poe, North Manchester.  One brother is deceased.  Gary was a 1971 graduate of Tri-Central High School at Sharpsville, IN and had been a volunteer dispatcher for South-Central EMS at Silver Lake, IN.  He was a member of Gospel Hill Pentecostal Chruch of God, Silver Lake, IN.  Services will be held Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Friends and family may call on Wednesday, April 7, from 4 - 8 p.m. at McKee Mortuary.  Graveside services and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Brookside Cemetery, Windfall, IN.  Pastor Frank Whitaker will officiate.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Gary L.
