  • BETTY L. BAKER, 74, FORT WAYNE, IN

     

    Betty L. Baker, 74, Fort Wayne, IN died at 4:45 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 in Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne, IN.  She was born September 24, 1938 in North Manchester, IN to Theo L. & Lucy M. (Harrison) Williams.  She graduated from Chester High School in 1956.  On November 23, 1957 she married Jack L. Baker. Betty was a Special Education Assistant at Ft. Wayne Community Schools for 20 years.  She was a member of Emmanuel Community Church, Fort Wayne, IN.  She and her husband enjoyed traveling and she enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. Betty is survived by her husband, Jack L. Baker, Fort Wayne, IN; two sons, Greg A. (Samantha) Baker, LaOtto, IN and Jon L. (Tricia) Baker, Ft. Wayne, IN; two daughters, Dawn M. (Aaron) Green, Greenville, OH and Amie L. Baker, Ft. Wayne, IN; one brother, Lester (Anita) Williams, Georgetown, TX; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.  One sister, Rozella Shenefield, is deceased.  Family & friends may call Friday, April 5, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN.     Cory G. Baker, 33, North Manchester, IN died at 6:00 a.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 in his residence.  He was born October 3, 1979 in Wabash, IN. Cory graduated from Manchester High School in 1999 and attended truck driving school.  He was a truck driver for Metztger Trucking, Silver Lake, IN for 7 years and for DLRS Leasing, North Manchester, IN since 2011. He loved his guns and four wheeling.  He is survived by his parents, Rodney & Darlene (Baker) Day, North Manchester, IN; two brothers, Jeremie J. (Kim) Baker, Winona Lake, IN and Michael L. (Jadee) Baker, North Manchester, IN; one sister, Renae A. Baker, Jamestown, NY; maternal grandmother, Donna L.     Ruth L. Bishop, 96, North Manchester, IN died at 1:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013 in Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw, IN.  She was born November 18, 1916 in Miami County, IN to Charles & Mae (Murphy) Walker. On December 28, 1935 she married Kempies M. Bishop. He died August 3, 2003. Ruth was a homemaker and had worked at Controls Company of America, North Manchester, IN for 9 years and at Burch's Corner Cupboard, North Manchester, IN for several years.  She enjoyed working in her flower gardens and her yard.  She is survived by two sons, LeRoy (Dorcas) Bishop, North Manchester, IN and Gerald "Gerry" Bishop, Fort Wayne, IN; one brother, Robert (Ruby) Walker, Wabash, IN; one sister Helen Wright, Wabash, IN; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.  One brother and four sisters are deceased.  Family and friends may call Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN.     Stephanie D. Shultz Beck, 40, North Manchester, IN died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 10:10 p.m. in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN. She was born November 16, 1972 in Rochester, IN to Don & Gloria (Heater) Shultz.  She graduated from Manchester High School in 1991 and received a BS from Manchester College and her law degree from Valparaiso University. She first practiced law in Michigan City, IN; she was then an attorney with Blume, Connelly, Jordan & Stucky in Fort Wayne, IN and Boeglin, Troyer & Gearadot Attorneys in Fort Wayne, IN and Tiede, Metz & Downs, Wabash, IN. She was currently a trust officer at PNC Bank, Fort Wayne, IN.  She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, North Manchester, IN, the American Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association.  On June 29, 2002 she married Jon W. Beck. He survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Emilia Beck, North Manchester, IN and maternal grandmother, Iva Heater, Winona Lake, IN.  Several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive.  Family and friends may call Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 W, North Manchester, IN.  No services are planned.  Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, IN.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Stephanie D.     Nancy Lee Benton, 75, North Manchester, IN died at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester. She was born February 27, 1937 in Middlebury, IN to Franklin & Florence (Plank) Mishler. She graduated from Middlebury High School and Manchester College with an Associate Degree in business. Nancy was the director and pre-school teacher at Sycamore Pre-school, North Mancester for 20 years.  She was a member of First Brethren Church, North Manchester and sang in the choir and played in the bell choir.  She loved her family and her former students.  On August 24, 1957 she married Ledford Benton. He survives in North Manchester, IN.  She is also survived by three sons, Mike (Tori) Benton, Middlebury, IN, Barry Benton, Garrett, IN and Mark (Kelly) Benton, North Manchester, IN; one daughter, Jeri (Dave) Lehman, North Manchester, IN; one sister, Judy (Jack) Kortie, Middlebury, IN; five grandchildren, five step grandchildren and eleven step great grandchildren.  One sister is deceased.  Family and friends may call Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.     Bettie Bradley, 95, North Manchester, IN died at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at her residence.  She was born August 28, 1917 in Magoffin County, KY to George & Dollie (England) Hale.  She married Joe Bradley on January 25, 1938. He died March 25, 1998. She was a homemaker and member of Old Regular Baptist Church Little Martha White Church, Magoffin County, KY. Bettie is survived by six sons, Phil E. (Avadean) Bradley, Sidney, IN, Carlos B. Bradley, Syracuse, IN, Sam D. (Bernie) Bradley, North Manchester, IN, Ralph E. (Peggy) Bradley, North Manchester, IN, Gordon R. (Norma Jean) Bradley, Warsaw, IN and Joe D. (Kelly) Bradley, Warsaw, IN; four daughters, Mrs. Ray (Patricia A.) Cumberland, Silver Lake, IN, Mrs. Danny (Sharlon K.) Castle, North Manchester, IN, Mrs. Curtis (Betty Jo) Robinson, Kokomo, IN and Mrs. Lowell (Wanda L.)   • RUTH E. BECHTOLD, 90, FORMERLY OF BIPPUS & URBANA, IN

     

    Ruth E. Bechtold, 90, formerly of the Bippus and Urbana areas died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester, IN.  She was born at Wabash County, Indiana on March 2, 1922 to William & Flora (Boyer) Gahl.  On May 3, 1940 she married Theron M. Bechtold.  He died May 25, 2002.  Ruth was a 1940 graduate of Urbana High School and worked at Delco in Kokomo, IN for 22 years.  She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Urbana, IN.  Surviving are a son, Terry (Dian) Bechtold, Frankfort, IN and a daughter, Mrs. James (Linda) Renz, Urbana, IN.  Two sisters, Mary Michel Burton, North Manchester, IN and Leota Sands, Huntington, IN.  Six grandchildren, Jeanett (Jay) Alexander, Urbana, IN, Joseph (Jackie) Renz, Columbia City, IN, Jason (Sherri) Renz, Urbana, IN, Joelle (Stacy) Clark, North Manchester, IN, Nathan Bechtold, Lafayette, IN and Joan (Randy) Hubler, Rossville, IN.  Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.  One brother is deceased.  Services will be held Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. in Peabody Chapel, 400 W. Seventh Street, North Manchester, IN.  Visitation with the family will follow the service.  Pastor Randell Webb and Rev.   • ALVIN E. BAILEY, 61, NORTH MANCHESTER, IN

     

    Alvin Eugene Bailey, 61, North Manchester, IN died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, September 23, 2012 at his residence.  He was born May 21, 1951 at McKenzie, Alabama to Fred & Edna (Hayes) Bailey.  Al Bailey, known also as "Gene" graduated from Buchanan (MI) High School in 1969.  He served his country in the United States Navy from 1971- 1973.  He held degrees from Western Michigan University and Purdue University.  On July 6, 1972 he married Teresa Snook.  She survives.  Also surviving are a son, Aaron (Susan) Bailey, and a daughter, Heather (Cameron) Baber.  One of his greatest joys in life were his grandchildren, Tanner, Tucker, Evan, Tatum and Ellie.  Also surviving are three brothers, Steve (Linda) Bailey, Wake Village, TX; Jeff (Sarah) Bailey, Buchanan, MI; Michael (Melinda) Bailey, Niles, MI.  Three sisters, Brenda Thames, Wright City, MO; Sheila (Philip) Morris, O'Fallon, MO; Janice (Howard) Carter, Niles, MI. One sister, Patricia Stokes, is deceased.  For over 25 years he taught shop and coached at Manchester High School and Manchester Junior High, nearly 20 of which he was head football coach for Manchester High School.  Al was a member and elder of Manchester Bible Church.  Services will be held Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN.  Pastor Matthew Staton and Pat Powers will officiate.  Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary.  Committal service and burial will be Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan, MI.    For those who wish to honor the memory of Alvin E. (Helser) Barton. Margaret was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, North Manchester, IN.  She retired from United Technologies, North Manchester, IN.  She is survived by three sisters, Joann Hensley, North Manchester, IN, Evelyn Hensley, North Manchester, IN and Shirley Winkler, Las Vegas, NV.
