Johnny L Wheeler

Johnny L. Wheeler, 65, North Manchester, Indiana passed away at his residence on August 14, 2017 at 7:29 a.m.  Johnny was born in Gibson County, Indiana to Lloyd and Ruby (Simmons) Wheeler on December 30, 1951. On June 10, 1977 Johnny married Theresa Graybill. He worked at the North Manchester Foundry before retiring in 2014. Johnny served in the Army as a tank driver, a recruiter and was part of the airborne. He also served in the National Guard. Johnny spent many years honoring the Veterans of this country by being a part of the Honor Guard and a member of the North Manchester American Legion post #286. Mr. Wheeler was a proud Veteran of the United States. He loved to ride his motorcycle and was part of the Legion Riders. Most of all, he loved his family and loved spending time with them. He was a man who put others before himself and had a big heart and would help anyone.  Johnny is survived by his wife Theresa Wheeler, North Manchester, Indiana; one son Tim Wheeler, North Manchester, Indiana; one daughter Shannon (Andy) Cook, North Manchester, Indiana; five brothers Scott (Tara) Wheeler, Illinois, Roy Wheeler, Jerry Wheeler, Rick (Jerry) Wheeler, and Mark (Rose) Wheeler, all of southern Indiana; one sister Lisa Howard, southern Indiana; and seven grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Ruby (Simmons) Wheeler, three brothers, and one sister. Family and friends may call Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017 at McKee Mortuary, with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate.
