Barbara Jane Hicks

Barbara Jane Hicks, 74, North Manchester, Indiana passed away in her home on February 15, 2018 at 11:45 a.m. Born in West Prestonsburg, Kentucky on April 12, 1943 to James and Letha (Conley) Wright, Barbara was one of twelve children.

For fifty-four years Barbara was married to her best friend David D. Hicks. The two were married on November 23, 1963. During their time together, Barbara worked at Bryant Manufacturing for ten years and Eaton Control for fifteen years before health reasons forced her to retire in 2001. When Barbara wasn’t working and taking care of their two children, she enjoyed working in the garden and canning in the fall what she had produced. Barbara will always be remember by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

The loving memory of Barbara Jane Hicks will be forever remembered by her husband, David D. Hicks, North Manchester, Indiana; one son, David Bert (Paula) Hicks, North Manchester, Indiana; one daughter, Margaret Hicks, North Manchester, Indiana; one brother, Edgar (Betty) Wright, Johnson County, Kentucky; four sisters, Lori (William) Whitaker, Warsaw, Indiana, Martha Ann (Jerry) Lester, North Manchester, Indiana, Margaret Nan Roberts, North Manchester, Indiana and Susie Douglas (Robert) Lyons, Lima, Ohio; one granddaughter Melissa Hicks, North Manchester, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Letha Wright; four brothers, Tom Wright, James Wright, Charlie Wright, Bill Wright and Louis “Bob” Wright; one sister, Florine Tippie.

A private service was held at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, Indiana. Pastor J.P. Freeman officiated.
