Patricia "Pat" Shepherd Obituary

Patricia “Pat” Ruth Shepherd, 85, North Manchester, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on November 25, 2019 at 4:03p.m. Pat was one of six children, born on November 22, 1934 in Warsaw, Indiana to Maynard and Ruth (Banghart) Denny.

Pat married Rev. Durwood “Derby” Shepherd on August 24, 1951. The two spent sixty wonderful years together, before Derby passed away on September 17, 2011. During their sixty years, Pat had the incredible task of being a minister’s wife and a homemaker. This meant that she had not only a duty to helping the congregation, but also the mission of raising her nine children. For a period of time, Pat served at the Pentecostal Church of God in Joplin, Missouri, where her husband ministered. During her time here on earth, Pat always care about the well-being of others, especially her family. She was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. She appreciated and respected the generations that came before her and helping those in need. She especially liked working with her mother and father-in-law. In her free time, Pat loved to cook and can. One of Pat’s favorite things to do was enjoying fellowship with her church family.

The loving memory of Pat will be forever cherished by her seven sons, Terry (Brenda Jordan) Shepherd, Lake Helen, FL, Larry Shepherd, North Manchester, Jerry (Teresa) Shepherd, Lafayette, IN, Perry (Robin) Shepherd, North Manchester, Jeff (Tracey) Shepherd, Longwood, FL, Ed (Charlotte) Shepherd, North Manchester, David (Teri) Shepherd, Fort Wayne, IN; two daughters, Kim (Tim) Lynn, Fort Wayne, IN and Nikki (Shawn) Johnson, North Manchester; twenty four grandchildren, thirty five great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Linda Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughter-in-law’s, Caroline Shepherd and Bonnie Shepherd; two brothers, Jerry Banghart and Robert Denny, and three sisters, Christine Schooley, Betty Cook, and an infant sister.
