Phyllis Anne (Moore) Penrod

Phyllis Anne (Moore) Penrod, 88, of North Manchester, IN went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2019 at Peabody Retirement Community. Phyllis was born February 24, 1931 to Leonard and Inez (Troutner) Moore of North Manchester, IN. She married Joe O. Penrod on August 27, 1950 who preceded her in death in 1991.

Phyllis is survived by her four children and their spouses: Scott (Vikki) of Albuquerque, NM, Dane (Deb) of Syracuse, IN, Lori of Springfield, OH, Grant (Tanza) of Battle Creek, MI. One sister Jeanette (Dean) of Losantville, IN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

During her married life, she and Joe; a United Methodist Pastor, made multiple moves due to church appointments. Communities served were: Liberty Mills, Albion, Decatur, Hammond, Ft. Wayne, and Churubusco, Indiana.

Phyllis graduated from South Whitley High School and from the University of St. Francis in Ft. Wayne, IN with a Liberal Studies degree. Her passions were family, reading, hiking, music and supporting Nature Conservancy programs. Phyllis and Joe started and taught in two pre-school programs in churches they served. Phyllis was always a student and teacher. Her last teaching position was in the Ft. Wayne Public School teaching Library Science.

Phyllis and Joe were devout in their Christian faith and this is what motivated their lives for over 41 years. Phyllis was a creative and supportive wife and mother to her four children.

Friends and family may call Monday, August 5, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Manchester Church of the Brethren, 1306 Beckley Street, North Manchester, Indiana. A memorial service will begin at the conclusion of calling with light refreshments after the service. A graveside service will be held on August 5, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, Indiana.

She is finally where she wanted to be, (Heaven) to be with God and Christ her Lord and Savior.
