Ramona Lois Kauffman

Ramona Lois (Harshman) Kauffman, 91, of North Manchester, Indiana passed away October 20, 2018 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Care in Fort Wayne, IN.

Born June 12, 1927 in Fort Wayne Indiana, she was the daughter of Walter and Velma (Arnold) Harshman. Ramona graduated North Side High School, Fort Wayne, Class of 1945; Purdue University, Lafayette, Class of 1950; and Saint Francis University, Fort Wayne in 1968.  She began her teaching career in South Whitley, Indiana and taught at Chester Elementary School, North Manchester for many years. 

Ramona married Raymond Leroy Kauffman in 1952, and they enjoyed 62 years of loving marriage until his death in October, 2012.  Ray and Ramona were members of the United Methodist Church, North Manchester, Indiana. 

Ramona treasured her time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild; as well as with her many dogs and pets over the years.

Ramona is survived by her son, Byron Kauffman, (Jane) of Leesburg, Indiana; daughter,  Ellen (George) Perry, Indianapolis, Indiana;  daughter Laura Kauffman, Fort Wayne, Indiana; and daughter-in-law; Kathryn (Kate) Kauffman, Naperville, Illinois; grandchildren Kayla and Derek Kauffman;  George (Lee Ann) Perry,  Nicole (Brandon) Bryce, Laura Beth Perry, Mathew Perry; Tripp, Gramm and Brynn Kauffman; and great grandson Colton Fultz. Ramona was preceded in death by her husband Raymond L. Kauffman and son Raymond L. Kauffman Jr.; Ramona is survived by her sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Sheets and Arlene Swaidner, and her brother Ronald Harshman. Her sister Eleanor Manes preceded her in death.

Funeral services will to be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 with the family receiving guests at 10 a.m. at the Peabody Chapel, Peabody Retirement Community, 400 W. Seventh Street, North Manchester, IN.  Burial at Oaklawn Cemetery following the funeral service.  Arrangements are entrusted to McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, IN.
