Robert E. Metzger

Robert E. Metzger, 89, North Manchester, Indiana passed away at 12:40 p.m. on October 16, 2018 at his residence. Born on August 4, 1929 in Wabash County, Indiana, Robert was one of three children born to Glenn L. and Florence N. (Brandenburg) Metzger.

After graduating from Chester High School in 1948, Robert married Marjorie J. Geiser on April 3, 1949. Supporting his family, Robert worked for Manchester University for 32 years, eventually retiring in 1993. Those who knew Robert described him as an excellent father, role model and devoted care giver for his wife Marjorie.  Robert was a member of North Manchester Old German Baptist Brethren Church.

The memory of Robert E. Metzger will be carried on by his wife, Marjorie J. Metzger, North Manchester; three sons, Gerald (Gladys) Metzger, North Manchester, Dale (Aleeta) Metzger, North Manchester and Wayne (Gayle) Metzger, Goshen; one daughter, Linda (Jeff) Bocchetto, Westfield; two daughter-in-law’s, Kathleen Metzger, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania and Alice Metzger, Ferrum, Virginia; one brother, Marvin (Sandra) Metzger, North Manchester; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Florence Metzger; two sons, Dean A. and Lynn R. Metzger; and one brother Wayne L. Metzger.

Family and friends may call Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at North Manchester Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 12546 North State Road 13, North Manchester, Indiana. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at North Manchester Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Burial will be held at North Manchester Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery. The Home Brethren will officiate.
