Ruth Oldfather-Wagner Obituary

Ruth E. Oldfather-Wagner, 94, North Manchester, Indiana, passed away in her residence on November 15, 2019. The only daughter of Wilber and Ruby Irene (Landis) Yentes, Ruth was born on November 7, 1925 in North Manchester.

After graduating from Chester High School, Ruth married Wilfred W. Oldfather Jr. on October 19, 1943. The two had five children together and were married for forty-seven years before Wilfred passed away on January 25, 1991. During their time together, Ruth spent countless hours on the farm making sure the chores were done and the children were taken care of. She also belonged to a homemaker’s group. While Wilfred and Ruth were married, Ruth was a member of Ijamsville United Methodist Church, Ijamsville, Indiana. Eleven years after Wilfred passed away, Ruth found happiness again with Dorlan Wagner. The two were wed on September 7, 2002 at Collamer Church of God, South Whitley, Indiana, where Ruth became a member. A few things were constant in Ruth’s life - the first being her faith in Jesus Christ. The second was the importance of family and the time she spent with them. Finally, Ruth was quite patriotic and was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 402, Laketon, Indiana.

The loving memory of Ruth E. Oldfather-Wagner will be forever remembered by her husband, Dorlan Wagner, North Manchester; three sons, Charles Oldfather, San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Robert (Kathy) Oldfather, Macy, Indiana, and James (Jan) Oldfather, Victoria, Texas; six step-sons, Timothy Wagner, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Eric (Amy) Wagner, Rapid City, South Dakota, Craig (J.K.)
