Agatha Marilyn Metzger

Agatha Marilyn (Coning) Metzger, 89, North Manchester, Indiana, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on June 4, 2025 at 6:15 a.m. at her daughter’s home, where she had been living for the past 2 years. Agatha was born November 17, 1935 in North Manchester, to Walter and Mary (Forney) Coning.

After graduating from Laketon High School in 1953, Agatha worked at Cyclone Manufacturing in Urbana, Indiana, for a few years. On January 5, 1964, she married Leon Metzger, son of Orville and Mae (Niccum) Metzger. Leon passed away on August 19, 2015.

Agatha was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren church on July 5, 1953. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Agatha is survived by three sons, Roger E. (Christine) Metzger, North Manchester, Eric A. (Rachel) Metzger, North Manchester, and Chris L. (Roxanna) Metzger, Flora; two daughters, Susan E. (Doug) Bowman, Ferrum, Virginia and Nelda A. (Myron) Metzger, North Manchester; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Coning) Brunk, Irene Metzger and Janet Metzger; one brother-in-law, Ernie Acord; twenty-six grandchildren; and 48 great grandchildren. Agatha was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Metzger; two sons, Todd and Brian Metzger; one granddaughter and one great grandson; her parents; two sisters, Eloise (Charlie) Brubaker and Evelyn (Morris) Cook; two brothers, Richard (Ruth) Coning and Herman Coning; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Catherine Metzger, Billie and Esther Blocher, Max Metzger, Eldon Metzger, Delmer Metzger, Wilmer Metzger, Mark Metzger and Leona Acord.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the North Manchester Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 12508 North State Road 13, North Manchester, with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial will be held at the North Manchester Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery.
