Alice Joy Howard, 80, of Pierceton, Indiana, passed away after a long fruitful life on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in Columbia City, Indiana. Alice was born on May 5th, 1941 in Warsaw. During high school, Alice was the class treasurer and also in the Drama Club. As many did at that time, Alice enjoyed skating in Silver Lake. It was there that she met the love of her life, Lonzo. After a long courtship, they married and had a loving son, Michael Wayne. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before Lonzo passed away in 2012.
Alice loved to smile, read, and watch old westerns. She was known for her “sweet tooth,” and welcomed homemade baked goods of any kind. She was blessed with seven grandchildren; Ryan Howard, Mike Yates, Tiffany Yates, Ryan Yates, Brittany Arnett, Sieara Arnett, Liz Allen; sixteen great-grandchildren and two on the way. Growing up with two sisters, Helen and Anita, and two brothers Edward and Wayne, Alice understood the value of family and enjoyed holiday get togethers surrounded by loved ones. Her kind-hearted nature and streak of stubbornness was reflected in her spunky personality.
The loving memory of Alice Joy Howard will be forever cherished by her son, Michael (Kandi) Howard, Pierceton, Indiana; brother, Edward Herendeen, Warsaw, Indiana; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Francis and Evelyn Grace (Tucker) Herendeen; brother, Wayne Herendeen; sisters, Anita Flannery and Helen Jackson.
