Alvin Lloyd Cook, 74, Silver Lake, Indiana, passed away on August 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. The son of Edward and Frances M. (Geiser) Cook, Alvin was born on August 24, 1948, in Bluffton, Indiana.

During his teenage years, Alvin attended Silver Lake High School. In 1974 he went to work at the North Manchester Foundry and continued employment there for thirty-two years. He began working at Kerlin Motor Company in Silver Lake in 2006 before retiring in 2011. After retirement, Alvin stayed busy by helping with transportation at Peabody Retirement Community and by driving as a truck escort for Cripe Mobile Home Transport in Laketon. Despite his many commitments, Alvin always prioritized volunteering with South Central EMS in Silver Lake, Boy Scouts of America, Silver Lake Lions Club, and various other roles within the community he loved dearly. He possessed a tender, generous heart and was willing to help those in need.

On May 6, 1995 Alvin married Connie (Long) Roberts. The two laughed and loved together for the next twenty-eight years. They relished his time camping at Art’s Country Park as well as various other campgrounds. Alvin had a passion for collecting all different types of canes and had an impressive collection. With a witty personality and a strong will, Alvin loved his family deeply. Alvin and Connie attended First Free Will Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, where they were members.

The loving memory of Alvin Lloyd Cook will be forever cherished by his wife, Connie Cook; daughters, Heidi Lucas and Daphne Riddle; stepchildren, Mark (Diane) Rose, Amy Rose, Tracy Reed, Darin (Nancy) Reed, Michael (Emily) Roberts, and Curtis (Ashtenne) Reed; brothers, Jeff (Pam) Cook and Eldon Cook; sister, Martha (Charles) Burbank; brother-in-law, Carl Shankster; eighteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Ella Cook; sister, Marilyn Shankster; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Cook.

Friends and family may call Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana.  Funeral services will be held Monday, August 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with calling beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, 58 West 700 South, Claypool, Indiana, with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Myrtle Glen Drive, Silver Lake, Indiana.
