Betty Ann Young, born on December 26, 1933, to Daniel and Carolina (Nail) Meehan, in Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on August 12, 2025, at Parkview Wabash Hospital. Betty was a lifelong resident of the area, known for her unwavering faith and dedication to her family and community.

Betty graduated from LaSalle High School in South Bend, Indiana, in 1951, a stepping stone that led her into a fulfilling career. For thirty-two years, she served as the Secretary for the Wabash-Miami Area Program, where her voice became synonymous with care and support as she answered the phone with the words, "Wabash-Miami Area Program for exceptional children."

On July 4, 1952, Betty married Harold Young, and together they embarked on a journey filled with family, hard work, and family. Their union was blessed with five children, and throughout her life, Betty exemplified dedication to her family. She was a kind-hearted and strong-willed woman, known for her unwavering faith and commitment to her community. Her faith in the Lord was a guiding force, and she was an active member of both Bachelor Creek Church of Christ in Wabash and Peabody Chapel.

Betty's personality shone brightly; she was thoughtful and hardworking, leaving an indelible mark as a true matriarch. Her influence extended beyond her own family as she took pride in teaching her children essential life skills through 4-H, imparting the art of sewing and cooking. She embraced her role as a devoted daughter, providing care for her mother with love and respect.

Betty found joy in being social, relishing her time at Peabody Retirement Community where she enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, bringing smiles to those around her. Her thoughtful nature and genuine warmth were evident in her interactions, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

The loving memory of Betty Young will be forever cherished by her children, Alan (Karen) Young, North Manchester, Kenny (Judy McIntire) Young, Upland, Mary Jo Young, Fort Wayne, Mark (Lisa Kaminski) Young, Carmel, and Sheri (Jim) Lose, Williamsburg, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Young; brothers, John Meehan, James Meehan, and Frank Farr; and sisters, Dorothy Michael, Helen Morin, Myra Meehan, and an Anna Catherine.

Family and friends may call Friday, August 15, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025 with calling beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, Indiana with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating.
