Bonnie Jean Douglass

March 6, 1930 — January 8, 2026

North Manchester, Indiana

Bonnie Jean Douglass, a remarkable woman known for her kindness and unwavering dedication to her family, passed away on January 8, 2026, at the Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester, Indiana. Born on March 6, 1930, in Somerset, Indiana, to John H. and Elizabeth (Baxter) Rogers, Bonnie lived a life enriched by deep connections with her loved ones.

Growing up in the Swayzee area, Bonnie graduated from Sweetser High School in 1948. Shortly after, on June 12, 1948, she married Charles Eldon Douglass Sr., and together they settled in Russiaville, where they created a loving home filled with warmth. During her years in Russiaville, Bonnie became an active member of the West Point Christian Church, contributing significantly to youth programs that left a lasting impact on many young lives.

Bonnie's role as a homemaker was one she embraced wholeheartedly. Ensuring the happiness and well-being of her family was her top priority. Later, when the family moved to the North Manchester area, Bonnie took on a new role at Oppenheim's, working with dress goods. Her love for crocheting led her to make countless doll dresses, Afghan blankets, table toppers, as well as many other crafty projects, all a testament to her talent and creativity. Friends and family will fondly remember her delicious baked goods, as she often extended her hospitality to the children’s friends who gathered in her home.

Bonnie possessed an unyielding strength and was known for her non-judgmental nature. She was a confidante to many, always ready to listen and offer support with genuine empathy. Her vibrant personality shone through as she tended to her garden, where she found joy in nurturing the flowers that adorned her yard.

The loving memory of Bonnie Douglass will be forever cherished by her son, Charles E. “Chuck” (Kathy) Douglass Jr., North Manchester; daughter, Margaret Sharon Creasy, Lake Park, Georgia; grandchildren, Charles E. “Doug” (Andrea) Douglass III, Brian (Sara) Douglass, both of Huntington, Chad Allen, North Manchester, and Amy (Kelly) Ross, Goshen; great-grandchildren, Kodi Douglass, Reece Douglass, and James Douglass; and sister-in-law, Georgia Rogers. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Eldon Douglass Sr.; eight brothers, James, Bob, Earl, Kenneth, John, Bill, George, and Edwin Rogers; sisters, Crystal Furgason, Ruth Burnett, and Eva Clupper; and son-in-law, Steryl Creasy.
