David Wayne Barker

David Wayne Barker, 66, North Manchester, passed away on September 15, 2026, at his home in North Manchester, Indiana. Born on January 12, 1960, in Coxton, Kentucky, to Richard and Grace (Burton) Barker, David’s life was marked by hard work, humor, and deep love for his family.

When he was twelve, he moved with his family from Kentucky to Mississippi, and later made his way to Wabash County, Indiana. After graduating from Wabash High School in 1980, David began his working career with United Technologies in North Manchester, where he worked in maintenance for seventeen years. He later went to work for Linamar in Pierceton as a production worker, remaining there for twenty-five years before retiring. Throughout his years on the job, he was known as a hard worker who took pride in his work.

David will be remembered as an outgoing man with a quick sense of humor and a gift for making others smile. A jokester by nature, he also carried himself with kindness and loyalty, and he was known as a good brother and a caring family man. He enjoyed fishing, playing poker, listening to music, and watching the Green Bay Packers. More than anything, he loved his family dearly, especially his two boys and three grandchildren.

The loving memory of David Barker will be forever cherished by his sons, Matthew Barker, North Manchester and Daniel (Haley) Whelpley) Barker, Ligonier; brothers, Allen (Rebecca) Barker, Wabash and Larry (Norma) Barker, North Manchester; sister, Dinah Simpson, Wabash; and three grandchildren, John, Lynx, and Waylan. David was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. A celebration of David’s life will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating.
