David Alvin Francis Sr., born on July 30, 1970, in Warsaw, Indiana, to James and Velvie “Bev” Lea (Francis) Dixon, passed away on March 24, 2026, at the Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Over the years, he contributed to various industries, lending his talents to Metal Works in Pierceton and multiple trailer factories. Beyond his roles within these establishments, David owned and operated D&D Salvage for numerous years, a testament to his hardworking nature and business acumen.

Throughout his life, David divided his time among Warsaw, North Manchester, and Prestonsburg, Kentucky, shaping a life rich with experience yet grounded in simplicity. Known for a kind heart and a deep passion for his family, he was a man who quietly embodied strength and steadfast principles, always striving to do what he believed was right. His gentle demeanor was accompanied by a keen sense of humor and a love for a good conspiracy theory.

David’s personal joys were many. He adored his grandchildren, finding joy and purpose in their lives. Simple pleasures such as sipping a cold Mountain Dew, enjoying fried potatoes with any meal, and participating in games of poker and moments of fishing brought him contentment and relaxation amid life’s challenges.

While David never entered into a legal marriage, his relationship with Cosondra Dawn Addair was a significant and enduring part of his life. The two shared eighteen years together until her passing in 2017, a bond that spoke volumes about his capacity for love and commitment.

The loving memory of David Francis Sr. will be forever cherished by his children, Amy (Pako Porras Leon) Diaz, North Manchester, Joshua Francis, Liberty Mills, David (Justin Carter) Francis Jr., Liberty Mills, and Kayla (Ernie) Vance, Liberty Mills; brothers, JJ (Candy) Dixon Jr., Prestonsburg, Kentucky, John (Crystal) Dixon, Prestonsburg, Kentucky, and Joshua Dixon, Milford; and nine grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his parents; companion, Cosondra Dawn Addair; son, James David “JD” Francis; and sister, Helen Marie Dixon.

Family and friends may call Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion calling with Rev. Bob Brown officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Claypool, Indiana.
