Donald Ray Helton, passed away on April 23, 2025, at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital in Warsaw, Indiana. Born on April 10, 1948, in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to John and Myrtle (Hale) Helton, Don lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family.

Don graduated from Warsaw Community High School in 1967 before being employed with Nipsco. During his employment, Don was drafted into the United States Army. He honorably served his country for two years, including a stint in Germany, and continued his service for four additional years in the Army Reserves. His commitment to his country was a defining aspect of his life.

Following his military service, Don began working as a Building Engineer in Greenville, North Carolina, before returning to Indiana. Transitioning to truck driving, he worked with various companies, ultimately retiring in 2018. However, true to his hard-working spirit, Don returned to the trucking profession at Swihart Grain, where he continued to work part-time until December of 2024.

Don found great joy in his personal life, especially in nurturing his relationships. He married Janet Mouser on April 7, 1978. Together, they created a home that was filled with warmth and cherished memories.

A man of many interests, Don had a deep love for reading Western novels and spent countless hours caring for his four-acre yard. His passion extended to being a dedicated and vocal fan of the Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame, which brought him immense joy during football season. Additionally, Don attended Warsaw First Brethren Church, where he engaged with his community and built lasting friendships.
