Eric Scott Garber, 65, Claypool, passed away at his home on May 12, 2026. Born on January 15, 1961, in Wabash, Indiana, to Jerry Lee and Barbara “Bickey” (Myers) Garber, Scott lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and accomplishment.
Scott attended Manchester High School and then became the owner and operator of E. Scott Garber Trucking LLC for over four decades. His company leased to Metzger Trucking, and Scott’s skill and commitment earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Master Truck Driver award from the INTA. Among his many honors, he was distinguished for achieving three million miles without an accident—a testament to his professionalism and careful attention to safety on the road.
Beyond his career, Scott was known for his vibrant personality and compassionate heart. On January 8, 2003, he married Lorry Brown, and together they shared many joyful and cherished moments. Scott’s life was never without warmth and laughter; those who knew him often remarked that there was never a boring moment when he was around.
He was deeply devoted to his family, a pride and joy especially evident in his relationship with his grandchildren. The grandkids often lent a hand in helping to clean his truck, an activity that reflected the loving bonds Scott nurtured with them. Known affectionately as a "mama’s boy," Scott was also a good brother and above all, the best dad one could hope for.
Scott’s generosity extended well beyond his family. His kind and giving heart led him to support numerous community causes, including donations to the local Food Bank, Toys for Tots, his grandson’s marching band, the South Whitley FFA, and children with their education.
The loving memory of Scott Garber will be forever cherished by his mother, Barbara “Bickey” Garber, North Manchester; wife, Lorry Garber, Claypool; children, Christal (Wes) Snyder, Columbia City and Brookelynn Jackson, Claypool; sisters, Julie (Kevin) McKay, Warsaw and Melissa (Kevin) Shorter, North Manchester; ten grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; five nieces and nephews; and ten great-nieces and nephews.
