Grover Franklin Archer, a revered member of the banking community and a beloved figure in the lives of many, passed away on August 27, 2025, at the Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester, Indiana. He was born on January 7, 1940, in Martin County, Indiana, to Stanford Earl and Zelda Madge (Howell) Archer, and he carried the values of his upbringing throughout his life and career.

Education was a foundation of Grover's journey. He attended West Baden Schools for eleven years before the consolidation with French Lick High School, where he completed his education. He further advanced his knowledge by attending Bolder School of Banking in Colorado and the Wisconsin School of Banking. Throughout his career, Grover demonstrated a dedication to professional development by continuously pursuing additional banking courses.

Grover dedicated his professional life to banking, steadfastly ascending through the ranks to become Senior Vice President and Area President in the banking world. His career path included time at a bank in Indianapolis before settling in North Manchester, where he served for eighteen years at Indiana Lawrence Bank. From North Manchester, Grover’s commitment to his work continued for thirty-five years in Anderson, where he made significant contributions to the financial landscape of the community.

Grover was united in marriage to Janice Marlene Cabel on June 16, 1961. Together, they cherished sixty-four wonderful years, nurturing a beautiful family that includes their two beloved daughters, Jennifer and Jacqueline. Grover held his faith close to his heart, finding solace and community at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was a dedicated member.

Outside of work, Grover had a passion for golf that began in his teenage years. He fondly recalled his days caddying in French Lick and later embraced the sport himself, where he enjoyed many memorable moments on the course. Beyond golf, Grover cherished camaraderie and enjoyed gathering with friends in North Manchester for their poker club. Known for his great sense of humor and his ability to connect with people, he left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Grover proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserves, demonstrating his commitment to his country and fellow Americans.

The loving memory of Grover Archer will be forever cherished by his wife, Janice Archer, North Manchester; daughter, Jennifer Lynn (Jack Larimore) Archer, Anderson; granddaughter, Rhiannon Nicole Diane Fetz, Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. Grover was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jacqueline Kay Archer Fetz; brother, Stanford Wayne Archer; and sister, Lois Marlene Archer Simons.

The family of Grover Archer will grieve privately. Burial will be held at Emmons Ridge Cemetery in French Lick, Indiana.
