Janice Lee Brubaker

Mar 16, 1937 — Aug 26, 2026

North Manchester, Indiana

Janice Lee Brubaker, 89, passed away on August 26, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Warsaw, Indiana. The daughter of Fred and Ethel (Pearson) Hamman, Janice was born on March 16, 1937, in Laketon, Indiana, in an apartment above the old fire station.

On May 30, 1958, Janice married Wilmer “Bill” Brubaker, and together they were blessed with six children. Their family life was filled with simple joys and lasting memories, including weekends spent together at the races at the Warsaw Speedway. Janice had a love for life that was unmatched, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to the people she loved.

Janice was a homemaker and also ran an in-home daycare for more than thirty years. In that role, as in every part of her life, she gave generously of herself. She was always there for her family and became a mom to many through her caring presence, steady support, and open heart.

She will be remembered as a wonderful cook, always ready when her children called for recipes. She found happiness in mushroom hunting, camping, reading Amish books, and sitting on the porch watching people, birds, and squirrels. Every day, she also enjoyed watching Days of Our Lives, a familiar part of her routine that reflected the comfort she found in life’s small pleasures.

Above all, Janice will be remembered for her deep love of family, her warmth, and the many ways she made others feel cared for and welcome. Her life was one of devotion, kindness, and enduring love, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.

The loving memory of Janice Lee Burbaker will be forever cherished by her children, Mark Brubaker, Greg Brubaker, both of North Manchester, Kelley Strand, Warsaw, Chris (Tom) Van Buskirk, Fort Wayne, and Jennifer (Stephen) Honeycutt, North Manchester; sister, Angeline Maxton, Columbia City; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilmer “Bill” Brubaker; brother, Robert Hamman; sisters, Delores Helvey, Marcella Ratliff, and Evangeline Hoag; and two grandchildren, Amanda Webb, P.J. Schultz; and great-grandson, Kaeden Brubaker.
