Pierceton, Indiana

Janyth Dormave Warner, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, at Parkview Huntington Hospital in Huntington, Indiana, at the age of 93. Born on May 21, 1933, in Huntington, Indiana, to Marion and Nada (Smith) Rooney, Janyth’s life was marked by a deep-rooted commitment to, faith and family.

Janyth’s education formed the cornerstone of her influential career. She graduated from Bippus High School in 1951 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Manchester College in 1955. Her dedication to lifelong learning continued, and in 1983, she achieved her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from the same institution.

She began her teaching career at Huntington Elementary, later bringing her talents and compassion to South Whitley and then Pierceton, where she retired in 1993 after twenty years of shaping young minds. Never one to rest, Janyth embraced a second career at the South Whitley Public Library, where she served for an additional eighteen years, fostering a love of reading and learning in her community.

On June 9, 1957, Janyth married the love of her life, Maurice C. Warner. Their nearly fifty-six years of marriage were a model of faith and devotion. Together, they raised four children, sharing with them the values of integrity, kindness, and steadfast love. Janyth and Maurice cherished traveling together, managing to visit forty-nine of the fifty states, most of which was with a camper, yet home always held her heart.

Music was another central part of Janyth’s life. A talented pianist and organist, she lent her gifts to Spring Creek Church of the Brethren, First Baptist Church South Whitley, Dutchtown Brethren Church and Timbercrest Retirement Community. Janyth attended Dutchtown Brethren Church where she was most recently a devoted member. Janyth loved leading the singing at the church and found joy in sharing her favorite hymns and songs with others. Her faith was the guiding light of her life, always placing her Lord and Savior at the forefront of her daily journey.

Throughout her life, Janyth was known for her happiness, honesty, warmth, and caring nature. She never had a bad word to say about anyone, and her thoughtfulness left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Sunday nights often found her on the phone with her children, a treasured ritual that highlighted the closeness she valued with her family. She took deep joy in spending time with her grandchildren, nourishing strong bonds across generations. Her cooking skills were legendary among her loved ones, and her shelves were always filled with faith and Christian books, reflecting her enduring devotion.
