Jerry Lee Hand

Jerry Lee Hand, 89, died April 15, 2026, at Wellbrooke of Wabash in Wabash, Indiana. He was born in Crawford County, Illinois, Dec. 14, 1936, to Harold and Imogene (Schmalzried) Hand.

He married Barbara Karen Bollinger, Dec. 14, 1957, who survives. They moved to Big Spring, Texas while Jerry finished serving in the Air Force, moving back to Sidney, Indiana to raise their family when he was honorably discharged in 1960. Jerry drove a milk truck, worked as a plumber and then worked nights for 36 1/2 years at R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company in Warsaw while farming in the daytime. He coached Little League baseball and was on the Sidney volunteer fire dept. for several years, serving as Fire Chief for a time.

Besides his wife of 69 years, survivors include two sons, Kraig (Becky) Hand, Sidney, and Kris (Debbie) Hand, North Manchester; grandchildren, Meghan (Chris) Brock, Kody (Lauren) Hand, Chase (Hayley) Hand, Laura (Mitch Eads) Hand and Erik (Mariesa Goetz) Hand; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara (Jim) Speicher and Estella (Pete) Heckman.

Family and friends may call Friday, April 24, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. A private graveside will be held at Ross, Clemmers, Fisher Cemetery, 3904 East 900 South, Sidney, Indiana, at a later date.
