Jo Ann Joele Parker

August 19, 1966 — March 31, 2026

Bloomington, Indiana

Jo Ann Joele Parker, a devoted mother, compassionate community volunteer, and a beacon of warmth and kindness, passed away at her home in Bloomington, Indiana, on March 31, 2026. Born on August 19, 1966, in Wabash, Indiana, to Larry Webb Parker and Nancy Dee (West) Parker, Joele's life was marked by her dedication to family, community, and a heartfelt desire to help others.

A proud graduate of Northfield High School, Joele left an impression early on when she won a contest that allowed her to assist in naming Sharp Creek Elementary School. This early accomplishment reflected her natural talents and community spirit, qualities that would continue to define her throughout her life. Following high school, Joele pursued higher education with a focus on Psychology, studying first at Ball State University and later at Indiana University. Her commitment to understanding and supporting children was evident as she worked in the field of Psychology, dedicating herself to improving the lives of young people.

Unfortunately, health challenges eventually led Joele to transition from her career to become a full-time homemaker. In this role, she devoted herself lovingly to caring for her son, Jared, embodying the nurturing and selfless traits that those close to her admired and cherished.

Since 1998, Joele found enduring love and companionship with Kevin Stewart. Together, they built a life filled with meaningful experiences and cherished memories, traveling and raising their son, Jared. Those who knew Joele recognized her extraverted nature-she encountered no strangers and brought warmth and friendliness wherever she went.

Throughout her life, Joele generously gave her time and energy to numerous boards and nonprofit organizations. Notably, she served on the Dental Care Center Board for fifteen years, where her commitment and passion for community health initiatives were profoundly felt. Additionally, she was deeply passionate about the new Gioship Homes project, which she supported with enthusiasm and dedication, having originated the idea of using bioceramics in affordable housing construction.

The loving memory of Jo Ann Joele Parker will be forever cherished by her companion, Kevin Stewart, Bloomington; son, Jared Parker Stewart, Bloomington; siblings, Dee Ann Hall, Patrick Parker, Melissa Schlemmer, Cynthia Parker, and Michelle Parker; and the countless lives she has impacted over the years. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Larry Webb Parker and Nancy Dee West.
