Juan Hernandez Castillo, 78, Urbana, Indiana, passed away at his home with his family by his side, in Urbana, Indiana on January 5, 2026. Born on October 13, 1947, in La Villa, Texas, to Refogio Herandez and Guadalupe Castillo Cerda, Juan lived a life full of faith and family.
After completing high school, he pursued mechanics at Hemp Hill Auto Mechanic School in Los Angeles, California. He later started his career that spanned over thirty-six years at Wabash Alloys in Wabash, Indiana, where he dedicated his skills and hard work until his retirement.
Family meant the world to Juan. He married his beloved wife, Sarah Hernandez, on October 7, 1974. Their union blessed them with four children, whom Juan adored and supported fully throughout their lives. His commitment to his family was unwavering, and he instilled in them the values of hard work, respect, and compassion. A man of deep faith, Juan was a devout Catholic and read his Bible daily. He was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in North Manchester, Indiana.
Juan was a man of many interests who truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and his enthusiasm for the game brought joy to his family and friends. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for deer hunting and spending time in nature. In addition to these pursuits, Juan showed great discipline and dedication by practicing karate.
The loving memory of Juan Hernandez Castillo will be forever cherished by his wife, Sarah Hernandez, Urbana; children, Maria (Matt Honeycutt) Hernandez, Laketon, Lupe (Mike Evans) Hernandez, Roann, Juan A. Hernandez, Huntington, and Alex Hernandez, North Manchester; two grandchildren, Lexi and Lana; and siblings, Minerva, Aracely, Martha, Juan, Raquol, Antonio, Herminia, and Eraciola. Juan was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends may call Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. A private funeral mass will be held at a later date at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in North Manchester, Indiana 46962.
