North Manchester, Indiana

Kevin Douglas Clapp, North Manchester, Indiana, passed away on June 23, 2026, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at the age of 70. Born on June 16, 1956, in Marion, Indiana, to David and Shirley (Lahr) Clapp, Kevin’s journey was marked by hard work, devotion to family, and an enthusiasm for life that touched all who knew him.

After graduating from Manchester High School in 1974, he pursued specialized studies in the food industry and earned an associate’s degree, paving the way for a career that would become both his vocation and passion. After college, he found himself at Lucky Steer, gaining valuable experience before returning home to join his parents at Mr. Dave’s, the restaurant owned by his father. In 1997, Kevin took on the mantle of ownership, purchasing Mr. Dave’s from his parents and, alongside his wife, ran the beloved local establishment for two decades. His commitment to excellence and his tireless work ethic made Mr. Dave’s a cherished fixture in the community until his retirement in 2017.

On October 21, 1984, Kevin married Tina Shepherd, beginning a devoted partnership filled with love and mutual support. Together, they were blessed with two children, Kindra and Kylee. As a husband, father, and grandfather, Kevin was steadfast and supportive, always present for his family’s important moments and day-to-day needs. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, finding great joy in attending their sporting events and taking them fishing. The bonds he forged with his family were inseparable, and he was each member’s most ardent champion.

Kevin’s personality was characterized by warmth, humor, and generosity. Known for his wit and love of fun, he brought laughter and lightness wherever he went. As an active member of Moose Lodge 1518, Kevin reveled in the camaraderie of friends, savoring good times and fellowship. Sports were another of his passions—he particularly enjoyed bowling and celebrated the rare achievement of bowling a perfect 300 game. Kevin was also an avid participant in league bowling, found pleasure in fishing, golf, and softball, and was a devoted follower of the St. Louis Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, and IU basketball.
