Leo Eugene Judy, born on October 16, 1936, in Kosciusko County, Indiana, to Marvin Earl and Bernice Louise (Danner) Judy, passed away on August 4, 2025, in North Manchester, Indiana. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, community support, and an unwavering dedication to family, friends and faith.
After graduating from Chester High School in 1955, Leo dedicated a significant portion of his life to the agricultural and transportation industries. He worked diligently on a farm and participated in livestock auctions from 1955 to 1960. Following this, he drove for North Manchester Trucking from 1960 to 1964, and then for Holland Motor Express until 1972. In 1972 Leo made the jump to owning and operating Go-Go Girl Express, where he specialized in hauling livestock from 1972 until 1995, before leasing to Woody Everly & Sons from 1995 to 2002.
His service to the community extended beyond his professional endeavors. A proud veteran, Leo served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964, spending over a year on foreign soil. After an honorable discharge, he remained committed to supporting fellow veterans and was a member of the American Legion Post 286 in North Manchester. One of his cherished memories was participating in an Honor Flight with fellow veterans in 2022, an experience that filled him with pride.
In his personal life, Leo married Laura Durham on July 18, 1981. The couple shared many cherished moments until her passing on May 25, 2021. Leo was known for his selfless spirit, always making it a priority to support others in times of need. Whether delivering pies for no special occasion or the countless heartfelt cards he sent, he consistently thought of those around him. His connection to the community was evident in his enthusiasm for Manchester High School athletics, particularly basketball, where he could always be found cheering on the teams.
A Christ-loving man, Leo was an active member of the Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life. After moving to Timbercrest Senior Living, he generously volunteered his time mowing the grounds, further reflecting his commitment to service. Throughout his life, Leo Eugene Judy was a man of remarkable generosity and warmth. He will be remembered not only for his contributions to the community but also for the countless lives he touched through his kindness and caring demeanor.
The loving memory of Leo Judy will be forever cherished by his friends and caretakers, Roxy and Tony Roser, Lagro; stepdaughter-in-law, Krista Durham; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and the many friends he made over the years. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laura Judy; stepsons, David and Ronald Durham; step-granddaughter, Rachel Durham; and brother, Don Judy.
Family and friends may call Monday, August 11, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor Erin Huiras officiating. Burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery in North Manchester, Indiana.
