Loraine Honeycutt

Sep 27, 1936 — Sep 4, 2026

Servia, Indiana

Loraine Honeycutt, 89, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on September 4, 2026, at her home in Servia, Indiana. She was born on September 27, 1936, in Weeksbury, Kentucky, to Troy and Louthelma (Stainford) Hale Sr.

On April 3, 1958, Loraine married Arlo Honeycutt Sr. Their marriage endured until Arlo’s passing on October 22, 1984, and together they shared a life centered on family, faith, and many happy memories. Their family vacations took them to visit loved ones in Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky, reflecting how deeply important family always was to Loraine.

Loraine began her working life at the Servia grocery store and later worked at Heckman Bindery for more than ten years. In 1983, she was involved in a serious car accident that left her hospitalized for three months. Afterward, walking became difficult, but Loraine met that challenge with determination. Doing what she could, she became a Hydro Aerobics Instructor at the North Manchester Pool, where being in the water helped her with the struggles she faced in walking.

Her faith remained an important part of her life, and she attended Abundant Life Church in Wabash, where she was baptized on May 15, 2011. Loraine also found joy in the simple and meaningful rhythms of everyday life. She enjoyed working in her garden, canning, reading all kinds of novels, doing crosswords, and watching the Pacers and the Colts. Loraine was skilled when it came to crocheting. She often made her daughter’s Barbie doll clothing, and also made matching dress for her and Sylvia. Loraine was known as a determined, strong-willed, straightforward, and honest woman, one who offered her opinion thoughtfully and when asked.

The loving memory of Loraine Honeycutt will be forever cherished by her children, Sylvia (Tim) Cooke, Ocala, Florida, Arlo (Marlene) Honeycutt, Westport, Kentucky, Victor (Suzanne) Honeycutt, Sarasota, Florida, William “Bill” (Jacqueline) Honeycutt, Marion, Stephen (Jennifer) Honeycutt, North Manchester, and Matthew (Maggie) Honeycutt, Laketon; brother, Charles (Kitty) Hale, Tennessee; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren with one more due in April 2027. Loraine was preceded in death by her father, Troy Hale; mother, Louthelma Click; husband, Arlo Honeycutt Sr.; siblings, Ivory Hale Browning, Alberta Hale, Emily Hale Price, Geneva Hale Newman, and Troy Hale Jr.

Family and friends may call Friday, September 11, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Abundant Life Church, 1399 Falls Ave., Wabash, Indiana. On October 22, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. Loraine will be laid to rest at the Austin Family Cemetery in Boone’s Camp, Kentucky, next to her husband of twenty-six years.
