Mary Louise Rohrer, a beloved member of the North Manchester and Laketon community, passed away on June 2, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on June 22, 1928, in North Manchester, to Mark and Garnett (Roach) Mansfield, Mary lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to others.

A woman of many accomplishments and a pillar of her community, Mary dedicated over 65 years to the American Legion Auxiliary, holding various local offices. Mary was also a valued member of organizations such as the Izaak Walton League, Huntington County Salon 490 8/40, and the Laketon Lions. Her service and dedication did not go unrecognized, as she was honored with the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash Award.

Mary married Dennis Owen Rohrer, although the marriage didn’t go as they hoped, they shared two children, Steven and Denise. In her free time, Mary enjoyed judging Holsteins and spending time with her companion of twenty-five years, Donald Dean Thrasher.

After graduating from Linlawn High School in 1946, Mary went on to earn her Accounting Degree from Manchester College in 1950. Throughout her career, she worked tirelessly in various roles, including teaching at Heartland Career Center, accounting at A O Smith Harvest Stored, Beauchamp & McSpadden, Inc., and finally at Modoc until her retirement at 80. Despite her professional successes, Mary always put her family first, raising her children and later being a devoted Trustee for Pleasant Township for over two decades.

The loving memory of Mary Louis Rohrer will be forever cherished by her children, Steven M. (Roberta) Rohrer and Denise Ann Rohrer, both of North Manchester; grandchildren, Stephanie (Christian) McElveen, Wabash, and Alexis A. Rohrer, North Manchester; and all the friends she made over the years in the different organizations she was a part of. Mary Louise Rohrer was preceded in death by her parents; companion, Donald Dean Thrasher; and her sister Lois M. Eis.

Family and friends may call Friday, June 14, 2024 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, Indiana.
