Michael Erwine Mitchell

Michael Erwin Mitchell (Mike) passed away September 17,2026 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester, Indiana. Born on February 7,1950 in South Bend Indiana, he was the son of Harold and Vivian (Hedington) Mitchell.

Mike graduated from Pierceton High School with the class of 1968. During those school years he would meet Randy Neer, who would become his forever partner on November 8, 1969 at the Presbyterian Church in Pierceton.

Together they built a life centered on love, partnership and home, living forty-seven years in the Pierceton area, before moving to Columbia City, and eventually to Timbercrest Senior Living in North Manchester.

Mike built his career through skill, dedication and determination. He worked first at Donnelley’s before going to Othy Inc. for CNC training. He would later end his career at Zimmer as a CNC Machinist, retiring in 2011 after 23 years.

After retirement he and Randy enjoyed traveling out West to visit family and spending winters in Arcadia, Florida making many new and cherished friendships. They attended Trinity Arcadia Methodist Church.

Mike always had a project on hand keeping himself busy. He enjoyed woodworking and restoring antique furniture, making many beautiful pieces for family and friends.

Mike will be remembered as having a dependable presence in the lives of those around him. He was a good husband, father, brother and friend. A kind and good man whose biggest joy was his wife and sons.

Mike will be forever cherished by his wife of nearly 57 years Randy Mitchell, North Manchester; sons, Michael (Suzy) Mitchell, Pierceton and Matthew (Lynette) Mitchell Flagstaff Arizona; sisters, Sandra Martin, Columbia City and Debra Parker, Pierceton; grandchildren, Jacey (Nate) Pugh, Madilyn Mitchell, Dylan Mitchell and Jayden Mitchell; and great grandson, Wyatt Michael Pugh. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and loyal companion Po Po.

Family and friends may call Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Timbercrest Chapel 2201 East Street, North Manchester, Indiana. A celebration of Mike’s life will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor Karen Eberly and Chaplin Bob Herman officiating.
