Myrtle Jean Saylor, 86, passed away on October 5, 2026, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester, Indiana. Born on March 15, 1940, in Pineville, Kentucky, to Johnny and Eliza (Jones) Saylor, Myrtle lived a life centered on family, faith, and connection with others. She was a strong-willed woman with a fiery personality, and those who knew her also knew the depth of her love for her family and the generosity of her big heart. Myrtle was a social butterfly who never met a stranger, and her warmth and openness left a lasting impression on many people throughout her life.
Myrtle was a homemaker who devoted herself to raising her eight children. Her home and family were the center of her life, and her care, strength, and spirited nature shaped the lives of those around her in lasting ways.
Thirty-five years ago, Myrtle moved from Pineville, Kentucky, to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she made her home for many years. She attended Holiness Pentecostal Church in Fort Wayne, where her faith was an important part of her life. Later, she moved from Fort Wayne to Timbercrest Senior Living in North Manchester.
The loving memory of Myrtle Jean Saylor will be forever cherished by her daughters, Sally (Don) Jones, Andrews, and Leah Marie (Fred) Bramlett, Elizabethtown, Kentucky; sons, Glen Neal, Churubusco, Bryan (Wanda) Neal, Fort Wayne, Edward Neal Churubusco, Kim Neal, Illinois, James Neal Jr., Fort Wayne, and Lucky Lewis Neal, Fort Wayne; brother, RJ (Clara) Saylor, Churubusco; sister, Anna (Ronald) Saylor, Pineville, Kentucky; twenty-five grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Farmer Saylor, Ray Saylor, Elmer Lawson, Chestney Brock, Della Collet, Thelma Cifrri, and Pheby Saylor.
Family and friends may call Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, Indiana.
Visitation will be held at the Crockett-Saylor Pentecostal Church, 402 Saylor Hollow Road, Arjay, Kentucky on October 10, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling. Burial will be held at Saylor Family Cemetery in Arjay, Kentucky.
The family of Myrtle Jean Saylor has entrusted McKee Mortuary and Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with care and final arrangements.
