Norma L. Lybarger, née Hamrick, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester, Indiana. Born on May 31, 1930, in Berne, Indiana, to Samuel and Nora (Frank) Hamrick, Norma's life was marked by devotion to her family and her faith.
A graduate of Pleasant Mills High School in 1948, Norma was a proud member of the school choir and in many theatrical productions, where her heartfelt voice began to reflect the warmth and kindness she carried throughout her life. Her professional journey took her to General Electric in Decatur, Indiana, where she worked diligently before embracing a new role as a house mother, boarding Manchester College students. In this capacity, she nurtured and supported young students, embodying the spirit of care that defined her character.
On August 16, 1952, Norma married Lindy L. Lybarger at the Hoagland United Methodist Church, the very place where their paths first crossed. Their union brought forth four children, and together they established their home first in Monroeville, Indiana, and later in North Manchester. During their years together, Norma and Lindy shared a love of travel and cherished family moments, building a legacy rooted in love and companionship. They loved wintering in Leesburg, Florida for over twenty years. Lindy preceded Norma in death on July 11, 2022.
A devout Christian, Norma was an active member of the North Manchester United Methodist Church for seventy years and the United Methodists Women’s Circle, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was known for her hospitality, frequently entertaining family and friends with warmth and grace. Beyond her spiritual commitments, Norma found joy in sewing, embroidery and the careful collection of Fenton Art Glas and other glassware decorative art, hobbies that reflected her attention to detail and appreciation for beauty. Norma was a longtime member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and she also volunteered at Peabody Retirement Community for over twenty years in the Gift Shop.
The loving memory of Norma Lybarger will be forever cherished by her sons, Todd (Amy) Lybarger, North Manchester and Mark (Kelly) Lybarger, Warsaw; daughter, Cynthia Lybarger, Grabill; daughter-in-law, Diana Lybarger, North Manchester; grandchildren, Natalie Cullip, Loren Lybarger, Kayli Hensley, Zacheray Lybarger, Lance Lybarger, Abbigail Stouffer, Lindsay Lybarger, and twelve great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence Hamrick, Willshire, Ohio and Duane (Jeanie) Hamrick, Rockford, Ohio; sister, Carolyn Baker, Celina, Ohio. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lindy Lybarger; son, Kenyon Lybarger; brothers, Charles, Paul, and Victor Hamrick; and sister, Evelyn Luginbill.
Family and friends may call Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Rev. Paul Borg officiating. Burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery in North Manchester, Indiana.
