Peggy Eleanor McCullough, 94, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on October 21, 2026, at her home. She was born on July 19, 1932, in Ijamsville, Indiana, to Willis Eugene and Minnie Eva (Brubaker) McCullough.
Peggy graduated from Laketon High School in 1950 and went on to build a long and steady working life. She began working at the Laketon grocery store and then at the Laketon Post Office before beginning a fifty-year career at Heckman Bindery in North Manchester. She retired in 2006, closing a remarkable chapter of dedication.
A woman of deep faith and warm fellowship, Peggy was a member of St. Paul's County Line Church in Andrews, Indiana, and also belonged to the Sorority ESA, Epsilon Sigma Alpha. She found joy in many simple and meaningful pursuits, including reading, crocheting, embroidering, and attending shows at the Wagon Wheel Theater in Warsaw. Peggy was a devoted animal lover who held a special place in her heart for all pets. She especially loved playing games with her nieces and nephews and was known for making Christmas crafts that reflected her creativity and care.
One of Peggy’s most cherished traditions was opening her home for a summer weekend to all of her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Those gatherings reflected the generosity and love that defined her life. She was supportive, loving, generous, charitable, and kind, with a good sense of humor that brought ease and happiness to those around her. Social by nature and grounded in her faith, Peggy leaves behind the memory of a life lived with warmth, grace, and a genuine concern for others.
The loving memory of Peggy Eleanor McCullough will be forever cherished by her sisters, Janice “Jan” Hantelman, Judith “Judy” Booth, and Karen “Kari” Sheibley, all of Fort Wayne; six nephews and six nieces; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, W. Gene McCullough and Karl McCullough.
