North Manchester, formerly of Logansport

Philip Michael Snider, 79, North Manchester, formerly of Logansport, Indiana, passed away on May 14, 2026, at Peabody Healthcare in North Manchester, Indiana. Born on June 2, 1946, in Elgin, Illinois, to Donald Mitchell and Martha June (Keever) Snider, Philip’s life was marked by a steadfast commitment to faith and family.

Philip’s educational journey began after graduating from high school, when he pursued higher education at Manchester College. There, he earned a degree in Physics, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. His compassionate spirit led him to serve two years in the Brethren Volunteer Service in South Bend. During this time, he worked with preschool children, contributing meaningfully to early childhood education within what is now recognized as the Head Start program. Following his graduation, Philip pursued a career as an electronic engineer, a path that saw him employed with the PWRTC Phone Company, where he worked for over thirty years. He also worked for the State of Indiana, fixing radio equipment for over ten years.

On August 22, 1970, Philip married Jenny Puterbaugh, whom he met while attending Manchester College. Their union was a cornerstone of his life, blessed with two children, Linbeth and Gina. Philip’s upbringing was deeply rooted in the Church of the Brethren, where his father served as a minister. This background instilled in him values that guided his journey. The family’s life involved several relocations across the United States and included a formative four-year period in Germany, experiences that broadened his perspective and enriched his personal growth.

Philip played a vital role and was the former president of the Amateur Ham Radio Club in Logansport for many years. He was also a member of the Emergency Management and sang for ten years in the barbershop quartet in Logansport. In the later years of his life, Philip embraced the teachings of The Baha'i Faith, reflecting his continual spiritual exploration and commitment to unity and understanding.
