Phyllis Ann Sizemore

August 8, 1948 — June 1, 2025

Silver Lake

Phyllis Ann (Blankenship) Sizemore of Silver Lake, Indiana, passed away surrounded by loved ones on June 1, 2025 at the age of 76. She was born on August 8, 1948, in Gilbert, West Virginia, to the late Kenneth Blankenship and Mary Frances (Riffe) Blankenship.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roddie Sizemore of Silver Lake, IN. Together they built a life full of love and lasting family ties.

She and her husband owned and operated an antique mall in Roann, Indiana, for several years, sharing a love of finding beauty and value in well-worn things.

Phyllis was a devoted mother to Robin Sizemore of Warsaw, IN; Drema (Barry) Drudge of North Manchester, IN; Roderick Sizemore of Silver Lake, IN; Cherokee Sizemore of Silver Lake, IN; and the late Tammy (Sizemore) Stanley of Wabash, IN.

Her grandchildren include: Jessica Stanley, Megan Cooper, Mia Drudge, Rosenea (Jay) Evans, Broderick Sizemore, Christina (Bronson) Albaugh, Zackery Drudge, and Adian Sizemore. She also had twelve great-grandchildren: Autumn Stanley, Gregory Cooper, Phoebe Cooper, Destiny Evans, Riley Evans, Damien Albaugh, Darren Sizemore, Darien Sizemore, and Alexander Drudge, Anaya Jackson, Opal Cooper, and Ruby Cooper —with two more grandchildren on the way, joyfully awaited by Autumn Stanley and Destiny Evans.

Phyllis counted many others as honorary children and grandchildren, among them John Wick and Veronica Parra. If you loved her, she claimed you. And vice versa.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Dorothy Jones, Betty Wooten, Sheila “Cookie” Blankenship Walden, and Misty Dawn Blankenship Lester.

She was lovingly raised by her maternal grandparents, Mattie (Carter) and Golden Adkins, in Logan County, West Virginia. She grew up alongside the Adkins boys, who were like brothers to her. She is survived by Jimmy Adkins (Betty) of Omar, WV; Allen Adkins (Patty) of FL; Tony Adkins (Teresa) of TN; and Jack Adkins of Gilbert, WV. She was preceded in death by Austin Adkins.

Phyllis enjoyed a hot cup of coffee, a cold case mystery show, and painting any piece of furniture that held still long enough. She loved flowers, her church family, and though she hadn’t been able to attend recently, eagerly read the church newsletter from cover to cover. She was deeply generous, often giving more than she could afford to, especially to those she cared for.

She loved spending time with her dear friend Shelley Swihart.

She is also survived by her beloved grand dog, Sheen, whom she nicknamed Diablo.

She gave deeply, cared fiercely, and loved in ways both seen and unseen. If there’s a porch in heaven, we like to think Dad’s waiting for her there, paintbrush in hand, ready for one more project together. “This place has possibilities,” he’d say, and she’d agree.
