Wabash formerly of North Manchester, Indiana

Robert James “Bob” Hidy, 72, of Wabash and formerly of North Manchester, passed away on October 19, 2026, at The Waters of Wabash East in Wabash, Indiana. Born in Duluth, Minnesota, on July 21, 1954, he was the son of Jack and Esther (Hendrickson) Hidy.

Bob graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in Pleasant Hill, California, with the class of 1972. In 1978, he relocated to North Manchester to be closer to his father. Over the years, Bob built a steady career working as a steelworker, as well as spending time at Warner Brooders and Clark Video. On January 19, 2002, he married Dorothy Thom-Hoyt, who later preceded him in death on September 23, 2024.

A past member of the Moose Lodge 1518 in North Manchester, Bob enjoyed bowling and listening to 50s and 60s music in his younger years. Though he was never one for large social events, he found great comfort and contentment at home, where he loved passing the time watching westerns, sci-fi, and war movies.

Bob’s loving memory will be forever cherished by his siblings, Scott Hidy of Sacramento, California, and Kathleen Banks of Redding, California; nephews, Nicholas Lapham and Roger (Andrea) Sossaman; his dedicated caretakers and friends, Brenda Hurlock and Tim McGinnis of North Manchester; his brother-in-law, Jerry (Nola) Thom of Edgeley, North Dakota; and his step-children, Christopher (Tiffanie) Hoyt and Vanessa (Tony) Rickert, both of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Dorothy; and his brother-in-law, Blanchard Banks.

A graveside service will be held on November 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the South Whitley Cemetery in South Whitley, Indiana. The family of Robert “Bob” Hidy has entrusted McKee Mortuary with his care and final arrangements.
