Ronald J. Shockey II, a beloved figure in his community, passed away at his home in North Manchester, Indiana, on August 13, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on February 28, 1964, to Ronald J. and Nancy (Bradford) Shockey, in Marion, Indiana, Ron made his mark in life through his dedication to both his profession and his family.
A graduate of Manchester High School, Ron embarked on a career that included notable roles at Singer Controls, the North Manchester Parks Department, Manchester Community Schools, and ultimately, Riverbridge Electric, where he dedicated seventeen years of his life. His keen expertise in HVAC systems and plumbing was matched only by his unwavering commitment to perfection in every task he undertook.
On May 21, 1983, Ron married Sherri Long, and together they created a family with two sons, Ryan and Chance. Ron was known throughout the community for his outgoing personality and knack for engaging conversations; he had a remarkable ability to discuss a broad array of topics with anyone he met. A man of his word, Ron embodied commitment and honor in all aspects of his life. His thirst for knowledge was evident to all who knew him, as was his deep appreciation for people and experiences alike.
An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Ron often could be seen riding around town, embracing the freedom and joy that came with it. He cherished time spent kayaking on local rivers, where he found serenity in nature. Ron was an active member of several organizations, including the United Methodist Church in North Manchester, the North Manchester Moose, and the Izaak Walton League. His passion for shooting led him to join a shooting club in Warsaw, where friends affectionately referred to him as "Rambling Ron."
The loving memory of Ron Shockey II will be forever cherished by his wife of forty-two years, Sherri Shockey, North Manchester; sons, Ryan (Katherine) Shockey, Marshall, Michigan and Chance (Amber) Shockey, Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Isabel, Maeve, Emerie, Ronald “Tripp”, and C.J. Ron was preceded in death by his father, Ronald J. Shockey I; and two sisters, Karen J. Buzzard and Katherine J. Morris.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Ron Shockey at 5:00 p.m. on August 30, 2025 at Metzger Garden Event Center, 11758 State Road 13 North, North Manchester, Indiana. It will be an hour of sharing followed by a band. It is a time for people to come and remember the good times with Ron.
