Rosetta I (Eller) Fry

September 12, 1935 — February 1, 2024

North Manchester

Rosetta I. Fry, 88, North Manchester, was reunited with her husband in Heaven on February 1, 2024. The daughter of the late Lucian and Mary (Flora) Eller, Rosetta was born at her home in Clinton County, Indiana, on September 12, 1935.

Rosetta graduated from Logansport High School. While in school she was a carhop at Shank’s Drive-In, where she would meet her future husband. She and Homer L. Fry wed on September 14, 1952, at Logansport Church of the Brethren. The two were married sixty years, during which time they were blessed with three children, Ken, Mike, and Cindy. They were fortunate to travel extensively together and visited all fifty states, Mexico, Canada, and parts of Europe. From 1964-1979 Rosetta was a supervisor at HW Gossard Company as well as a floral designer for her sister who owned a greenhouse and flower shop in Logansport.

The Church of the Brethren was always an important part of Rosetta’s life. She was a member of Logansport Church of the Brethren before moving to North Manchester, at which time she joined Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren. She and Homer worked for the Church of the Brethren Disaster Childcare Project from 1988 to 2004. Rosetta enjoyed getting to know people from different cultures and found it a wonderful way to help serve God’s children who were hurting. After retiring from the workforce in June 1990, Rosetta and Homer sold their home and entered training for Brethren Volunteer Service. They served for over a year in a homeless shelter in San Antonio, Texas, followed by another year in Fairfield, Pennsylvania, where they served in the Southern District Church Camp, Camp Eder. Together the couple was recognized for their years of service to their church family with a beautiful friendship quilt. Rosetta was also recognized for her work as children's director, teacher, deacon, historian, board member, youth director, and teacher over the course of the fifty-five years she was a member of Logansport Church of the Brethren. She was also a 4-H leader, head of the United Fund in her workplace, and a lifetime member of Friends of Timbercrest, where she served on the Friends of Timbercrest board for eight years and worked in the gift shop. She enjoyed creating cards and notes, needlework, crafts, and photography.
