North Manchester, formerly of Ijamsville

Ruth Anna Calhoun, 90, North Manchester, formerly of Ijamsville, passed away February 26, 2024 at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester. The daughter of Henry D. and Mabel Irene (Sickafus) Reiken, Ruth was born June 12, 1933 in Laketon.

After graduating from Laketon High School in 1952, she married Charles Edward Sharp, with whom she shared five children. She later married Taylor Calhoun on July 7, 1989, and the two remained married until October 11, 1998, when Taylor passed away.

Ruth was a member of New Life Baptist Church in Wabash, where she worshiped her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She studied the word of the Lord faithfully, reading her Bible often. On Christmas, she ensured that her family was gathered together, which was a tremendous feat given their many members. Ruth especially loved it when she got to visit with her grandchildren who she adored. She was an avid game show viewer, and her favorite was The Price is Right.
