Sheila Karen Rowe

Sheila Karen Rowe, known affectionately as Karen, passed away on February 9, 2026, at the Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester, Indiana. Born on March 16, 1948, in Ashland, Kentucky, to Russell E. “Red” and Maxine (Kelley) Estep, she was the daughter of loving parents and grew up in a community that instilled in her the values of hard work and dedication.

Karen graduated from Fairview High School in Ashland in 1966, after which she pursued a degree in communications at the University of Kentucky. Her early career began at Peabody Seating Company in North Manchester, where she worked diligently on the production line. However, her true calling became evident when she joined Manchester Community Schools. Initially serving as a teacher's aide at the elementary level, she later transitioned to the kitchen staff at Manchester Junior High, until her retirement.

On March 14, 1983, Karen married Kernie Rowe and together they welcomed a son, Kyle. While Kernie was on the road driving truck, Karen ensured their home was a place of warmth and order. Her ability to learn how to fix things around the house showcased her resourcefulness and commitment to family. A devoted parent, she also embraced leadership, taking on the role of Den Leader for Cub Scouts. Earlier in Karen’s life, she was a member at the North Manchester Missionary Church, where she taught Sunday School. She then became a member of the Congregational Christian Church, now known as Walnut Street Church in North Manchester.

The loving memory of Sheila Karen Rowe will be forever cherished by her husband, Kernie Rowe, North Manchester; son, Kyle (Amber) Rowe, North Manchester; grandchildren, Kaelynn, Koltynn, and Quintyn. Karen was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Sheila Karen Rowe on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Walnut Street Church, 310 North Walnut Street, North Manchester, Indiana, with Pastor J.P. Freeman and Pastor Sebrena Cline officiating.

The family of Sheila Karen Rowe has entrusted McKee Mortuary with care and final arrangements.
