Velma B. Hantelman, 98, Silver Lake, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on November 19, 2021. The daughter of Glen R. and Opal M. (Anderson) Frantz, Velma was born on August 14, 1923 in North Manchester, Indiana.
After graduating high school, Velma married Paul Frey Jr. on August 23, 1942. Paul passed away on November 19, 1991, and Velma married Donald W. Hantelman on October 26, 1998. Through the hard times in her life, Velma always kept her faith in the Lord. She was baptized on March 9, 1974 into the North Manchester Old German Baptist Brethren Church, and she held her membership there until she married Donald, at which time she transferred her membership to the Eel River Old German Baptist Church in Silver Lake, Indiana. Velma worked at Manchester College for twenty-four years in the financial aid office before retiring in 1988. After retirement, she worked part-time as a Nurses Aid for four years in Akron, Indiana.
The loving memory of Velma B. Hantelman will be forever cherished by her husband, Donald W. Hantelman, Silver Lake, Indiana; daughter, Dian (Don) Adkins, Pierceton, Indiana; stepson, Tony K. (Nancy) Hantelman, New Paris, Indiana; stepdaughters, Pamela K. (David) Callaway and Jennifer J. (Dwight) Wagoner, both of Silver Lake, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Frey, North Manchester, Indiana; brother-in-law, Dennis Landes, New Carlisle, Ohio; sister-in-law, Karen Frantz, North Manchester, Indiana; seventeen grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Opal Frantz; son, Gary Frey; brother, Virgil R. Frantz; sisters, Ruth Landes and Carolyn Frantz; brother-in-law, Charles Frey; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held Friday, November 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the North Manchester Old German Baptist Brethren Cemetery, 12546 North State Road 13, North Manchester, Indiana.
The family of Velma B. Hantelman has entrusted McKee Mortuary with care and final arrangements.
