Veta Joy Holle

April 29, 1932 — August 21, 2025

North Manchester, Indiana

Veta Joy Holle, a beloved member of her Laketon community, passed away on August 21, 2025, at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 29, 1932, to Archie M. and Mary E. (Hackworth) Caudill, in Riceville, Johnson County, Kentucky, Veta lived a life marked by love, faith, and unwavering dedication to those around her.

Veta graduated from Laketon High School in 1950, and furthered her education at Marion College in Marion, Indiana, where she studied for two years. Her career began at Singer Controls, where she worked from 1965 to 1970. She later dedicated her efforts to the Thomas Family Center from 1978 to 1986, and subsequently joined Heckman Bindery for the Canteen Corporation Vending Company, where she worked for a few years. In 1981, Veta took a bold step and founded Holle Tax Service, a venture that she operated with pride.

On June 18, 1954, Veta united in marriage with Charles F. Holle, who predeceased her on September 3, 2006. Together, they raised two children, Duane and Mary. Veta was known for her profound faith and was a devoted member of the Laketon Wesleyan Church from the age of 17. Her service to the church included over twenty-five years as a song leader, teaching Sunday School, and conducting Vacation Bible School. A woman of strong convictions, she shared her faith through countless conversations, bringing many to know the Lord. Veta also embarked on mission trips to Haiti, further expressing her commitment to helping others.

In addition to her spiritual contributions, Veta was actively involved in her community. She was a member of the Laketon American Legion Auxiliary Sunset Unit 402, the Red Hat Society, and held the title of Honorary member of the Laketon Fire Department. Always wearing a warm smile, her kind and giving heart touched the lives of many. Veta found joy in gardening, tending to her beautiful flowers, cooking, canning, and sitting on her porch while watching the world go by.

The loving memory of Veta Holle will be forever cherished by her daughter, Mary (David) Burnette, Laketon; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Tea Holle, Huntington.
