North Manchester

Violet Louise Fitzgerald, born on November 11, 1935, to Carl Clyde and Minnie M. (Brown) Good Sr., was a lifelong resident of North Manchester. She passed away on June 17, 2024 at Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester, departing from this world at the age of 88. Violet left behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Violet was a woman of compassion and selflessness, dedicating over two decades of her life to serving others as a waitress at Mike’s Café and Mom’s Place, both in North Manchester. Violet then went to work for seventeen years at United Technologies until her retirement in 1998. Her kindness knew no bounds, especially towards the children she encountered, ensuring they never went without a meal or a smile. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her job, earning her the title of a mother figure to many.

After graduating from Laketon High School in 1953, she married her beloved husband, John Henry "Jack" Fitzgerald, on July 3, 1953. Together they embarked on a journey filled with love and adventures until his passing on March 11, 1996. They cherished impromptu trips and shared a love for traditional country music, creating countless cherished memories.

Violet was a puzzle enthusiast, finding solace and joy in solving them. Her feisty and free-spirited nature endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her, making her a treasured presence in the lives of her family and friends.

The loving memory of Violet Louise Fitzgerald will be forever cherished by her son, Johnny “John” (Kim) Fitzgerald, North Manchester; brothers, Leonard Good and Carl (Esta) Good Jr., both of North Manchester; grandchildren, Josh (Ashley) Fitzgerald, Nathan (Emily) Fitzgerald, Landon Fitzgerald, Matthew Walker, Jonathan (Michelle Loshe) Walker, and Jacob (Kelsey) Walker; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John “Jack” Fitzgerald; brothers, Dean, Bruce, Gerald D. and Richard Good; and sister, Norma Gillum.
