Wayne Henry Miller

Wayne Henry Miller, born on June 8, 1937, in Urbana, to Cecil and Letha (Green) Miller, passed away on July 30, 2025, at the Peabody Healthcare Center in North Manchester.

After graduating from Central High School in 1956, he embarked on a fulfilling career in the excavation business, starting out at Cecil Miller & Sons Excavating alongside his father. He later worked at Warner Bruder and Cyclone in Urbana, ultimately concluding his career at Plastics Manufacturing, where he retired in 2001.

On June 7, 1959, Wayne married the love of his life, Joann Clark. Their marriage endured for sixty-six years, during which Wayne exemplified what it meant to be a loving and supportive husband. Known for his caring, kind, and gentle nature, he often lent a helping hand to Joann’s family at the Log Cabin restaurant in North Manchester. Whether by cooking, cleaning, or assisting with various maintenance tasks, Wayne was always ready to contribute, showcasing his willingness to support others in any way possible.

Wayne was a humble man, preferring to remain in the background, far from the limelight. His easy-going personality and strong sense of family made him a beloved figure among those who knew him. He also dedicated a portion of his life to serving his country, having been a part of the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. Wayne’s commitment to service continued as he became a past member of the American Legion Post 286 in North Manchester.

The loving memory of Wayne Miller will be forever cherished by his wife, Joann, North Manchester; brother, Paul Miller, North Manchester; sisters Mary Lou (Michael) Reed, Akron and Ruth Ann Kline, North Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack H. Miller and Dick Lee Miller.

The family of Wayne Miller will grieve privately. Burial will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery in North Manchester.
