Amelia "Millie" R. (Butler) Helton

Amelia R. “Millie” Helton, 85, Marion, formerly of Akron and Silver Lake, passed away on December 28, 2022, at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion. Born August 26, 1937, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Millie was the daughter of the late Harold and Fonderine (Moore) Butler.

On February 18, 1977, Millie married Grady Helton. The two were wed for twenty-one years before Grady passed away on August 8, 1998. A nurturer at heart, Millie cared for those who couldn’t care for themselves with grace and dignity. From 1986 to 2001, Millie worked at Prairie View Healthcare in Warsaw. She also had the full-time job of raising four boys, Jay, Jerry Lee, Johnny, and Jason.

A hospitable, lovable, and spunky woman, Millie was blessed with the special gift of making others laugh. Her sense of humor was unmatched, along with her cooking. When Millie wasn’t taking care of her children, volunteering, or working, she loved to relax with a good puzzle.

The loving memory of Amelia R. “Millie” Helton will be forever cherished by her sons, Jerry Lee (Suzanne) Egolf, Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Johnny (Elizabeth) Egolf, Marion, Jason (Torie) Helton, Claypool; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Kara McKinney, Fort Wayne; and all the friends she made at Wesleyan Health Care Center. Millie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grady Helton; son, Jay Egolf; brothers, Marvin and William Butler; and sisters, Betty Danalds, Bonnie Ogg, and Beverly Gordon.

Family and friends may call Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery, 604 South Graceland Ave., Claypool, Indiana
