Ellen Gerard

Ellen Gerard, 90, Winona Lake, Indiana and formerly of South Whitley, Indiana passed away at 2:20 a.m. on July 19, 2018 at Grace Village, Winona Lake. Ellen was born on March 26, 1928 in Kosciusko County, IN to Lionel Sr. and Caroline (Hostetler) Kreger.

She graduated from Pierceton High School in 1946 and from the South Bend School of Nursing in 1950. On August 22, 1950, Ellen married Chester D. Gerard Sr. and they had three children together. She had worked at South Bend Memorial Hospital-Niles and Grace Village Retirement Community fulfilling her career to the age of 84.  Ellen enjoyed oil painting, as well as working and helping her co-workers. She loved and was proud of her grandchildren and they were proud of their grandmother. She was always there for her children if she agreed with them or not.

Ellen is survived by a son Chester "Dale" (Lynn) Gerard Jr., Warsaw, IN and two daughters, Beth Prater, Pierceton, IN and Mary (George Beidler) Gerard, Pittsburgh, PA. Six grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.  She was preceded in the death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.
