Helen H (Halladay) Farringer

Helen H. Farringer, 91, North Manchester, Indiana passed away at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

She was born at Darke County, Ohio on September 24, 1927 to Ralph B. & Mary (DeHoff) Halladay.  Graduating from Greenville, Ohio High School in 1944 and Manchester College in 1948, Helen was a homemaker and for two years taught Home Economics while managing the school cafeteria at Franklin (Ohio) High School.  Later she was a billing clerk for Sears-Roebuck in Chicago, IL and after moving to North Manchester, she was an expert housekeeper for Timbercrest Senior Living Community.  A member of Manchester Church of the Brethren, Helen taught Sunday School and was active in the College Woman's Club.  She was an active and skilled hostess for many events.  Helen and Dwight pursued family history and genealogy.  Starting from some cartons of accumulated family papers, they made visits to many libraries, courthouses, museums, cemeteries and other family history sites.  Their Family Tree Maker database now includes some 9,400 names dating back as far as 1450 AD. 

Helen and Dwight Farringer were married on August 29, 1950 in the Poplar Grove Church of the Brethren, Greenville, OH.  He survives at North Manchester.  Also surviving are their three children, Susan (William) Widick, Evansville, IN; Steve (Denise) Farringer, Columbia City, IN; Bruce (Chris) Farringer, Reno, NV.  A brother, Robert Halladay, Ashland, KY and a sister Esther DeLand, Chiefland, FL.  Also cherishing the memory of Helen are five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A Memorial service for Helen H. Farringer will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, North Manchester, IN.  Pastor Karen Eberly and Chaplain Laura Stone will officiate.  Visiting with the family will follow the service.  Burial will be in the Manchester Church of the Brethren Memorial Gardens.  For those who wish to honor the memory of Helen Farringer, memorial contributions may be made to Manchester University, 604 E.
