John Benton Ridenour

John Benton Ridenour, 60, Silver Lake, passed away September 16, 2022, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. Born May 30, 1962, in Wabash, John was the son of James and Kay (Meyer) Ridenour.

Growing up, John spent a lot of time at his uncle John Bechtold’s farm. He enjoyed helping on the farm and playing with his cousins, Midge and Rozella. John made a living by working in factories for many years before his health forced him to retire. A tough and quiet soul, John was someone who liked being alone. He had a deep love for living off the land and being outdoors. John especially loved fishing, being in the woods, and sitting around a campfire telling stories. On September 17, 2016 John married Shelley Powell. 

The loving memory of John Ridenour will be forever cherished by his wife, Shelley Ridenour, Silver Lake; stepson, Travis (Amber) Powell, Monticello, Kentucky; brother, Steve (Angie) Ridenour, Silver Lake; uncles, Roger Meyer, Roann, and Ray Meyer, Warsaw; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, James Ridenour and Kay L. Meyer, and sister, Michele “Shelly” Wilhelm; uncle John Bechtold and aunt Rebecca “Becky” Smith; cousin, Rozella Bechtold.

The family of John Ridenour has entrusted McKee Mortuary with care and final arrangements. Family and friends may call Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, with funeral services beginning at the conclusion of calling. Pastor Dennis Bollenbacher will officiate.
