Some of his work can be seen in the Smithsonian Institution Museum. He also worked as a consultant for NASA. Martin was an intelligent and talented teacher, from teaching others his craft, such as TIG welding, where he was a certified instructor, to his son, where he passed on his knowledge and gave life lessons, Martin was kind, patient, and thorough in his teachings.

Although Martin was never in the military, he was a supporter and lifelong member of American Huey 369 in Peru, Military Vehicle Preservation Association, Air Force Association, ROTC, and NRA. Martin was a man of faith and enjoyed drag racing, flying small planes, which he had a pilot’s license, and tractor pulling. He often donated his time plowing snow for the town of Sidney and the residents that lived there and was a local mechanic for farmers around his home.
