Menifee "Dick" Patrick Obituary

Menifee “Dick” Patrick, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, left his earthly home on Saturday July 16, 2022, at age 88 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Dick was born on December 24, 1933, to Everett and Stella (Allen) Patrick in Salyersville, Kentucky. Moving to the Sidney, Indiana, area, Dick graduated from Sidney High School in the class of 1953. After losing his dad suddenly, Dick bought the family farm in 1959 and continued farming throughout his life. He also worked at United Technologies for forty-five years, starting in the shipping department and working his way up to plant manager, a position he held for thirty-five years. Dick retired from United Technologies in 1987 but continued farming.

Dick first married Marjorie Benson for several years and on August 11, 1969, Dick married Linda S. “Bird” Starkweather. The two were wed for thirty-eight years and together for over forty years before Bird passed away on September 11, 2007. Dick was blessed with four sons, Randy, Mike, Rick, and Chris. Before Bird’s passing, Dick was her caretaker and a great husband.

Dick was a hardworking man of few words, but he spoke with meaning. He was a selfless person who helped those around him. Dick enjoyed sitting on his front porch, watching the world go by, and gardening. Nothing, however, compared to the love he had for his family and how proud he was of his sons. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them participate in their favorite events, especially 4-H. Dick’s sense of humor and orneriness will be missed by all who knew him.

The loving memory of Menifee “Dick” Patrick will be forever cherished by his sons, Randy (Tracey) Patrick, Warsaw, Mike Patrick, Mentone, Rick (Mindy Flora) Patrick, North Manchester, and Chris (Dawn) Patrick, North Manchester; brother, Bill (Nancy) Patrick, Sidney; sisters, Christine (Bill) Hough, Dewart Lake and Avadene (Phil) Bradley, Sidney; grandchildren, Melissa (Paul) Seykora, Ty Patrick, Caleb Patrick, Chase Patrick, Tanner Patrick, Brice Patrick, Carrie Laure, Nathan Patrick, Shelby Patrick, Heather Patrick, Devin (Brad) DeLong, Noelle (Dylan) Kennedy, Travis (Sarah) Lightle, and Erica (Seth) Hendress; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Stella Patrick; wife, Linda S. “Bird” Patrick; and sister, Magalene Stephens.
